Hershey Show opens on schedule The Pennsylvania RV & Camping Show in Hershey, Pa., will open as scheduled at 9 a.m. EST today (Sept. 12) for the first of two Industry Days. More than 200 people are expected to attend the annual Leisure Systems Inc. (LSI) Symposium Nov. 14-17 at the Embassy Suites in Covington, Ky. The event is open to all franchisees of the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts and their families in the U.S. and Canada. Flooding Devastates Two Vermont Campgrounds

Tropical Storm Irene has had “a devastating effect” on the private campgrounds in Vermont and at least two have suffered “total flooding,” according to a report from Peter Daniels, executive director of the Vermont Campground Association (VCA). “Camping on the Battenkill in Arlington will not be able to access the damage until the river recedes. Hurricane Irene did not live up to weather forecasters’ dire expectations, and for that, many people living and working along the East Coast are breathing a sigh of relief today. Va. Campgrounds Jarred by Surprise Earthquake

Campgrounds located near the Mineral, Va., epicenter for the earthquake that surprised millions of people on the East Coast Tuesday (Aug. 23) largely escaped damage, according to a report by Woodall’s Campground Management. ARVC Members Vary on State Park Membership

Private park associations in at least two states — New York and Missouri — have said “no” to a plan by the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) to offer free memberships for the remainder of this year to state parks. The objections to ARVC’s plan surfaced in an informal survey conducted last week by Woodall’s Campground Management. Other states apparently are leaning against backing the plan as well.
