SSI: Class B Sales See 13% Growth for October

Year-over-year Class B motorhome retail registrations gained 13% in October and 22.1% for the first 10 months of 2014, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc. maintained its position as the top-selling manufacturer year-to-date with 34.9% of the Class B market, followed by Winnebago Industries Inc. (25.9%) and Thor Industries Inc. Forest River Buys Skyline Plant in Hemet, Calif.

Forest River Inc. has acquired the former Skyline RV facility in Hemet, Calif., according to a report by the Banning-Beaumont Patch. Forest River expects to begin producing recreational vehicle trailers in early 2015 at the new Hemet manufacturing plant. The facility, located on 18 acres, will serve as Forest River’s 67th national assembly plant and is expected to employ 200-300 people at full production. HUD Committee: Grandfather Park Models RVs

The Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee has recommended that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grandfather existing park model RVs to protect park operators and consumers from enforcement actions as HUD implements new regulations. Pump Prices are Under $2 a Gallon in 13 States

Cheap gas spread across the nation faster than holiday cheer. CNNMoney reported that after a weekend of price cutting at stations, gas for less than $2 can be found in 13 states across the country. Two weeks ago there was only one gas station in the country selling gas that cheap. October motorhome retail registrations grew 9.1% compared to the same period a year ago while sales increased 14.8% year-to-date, according to the latest report by Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).
