Report: Fed Likely to Stay Put on Rates in March

The Federal Reserve isn’t likely to increase interest rates in March despite a decent jobs report, economists said Friday (Feb. 5). MarketWatch reported that the pace of hiring in the U.S. slowed for the third straight month in January but the unemployment rate fell to 4.9%, the lowest level in eight years. Flexsteel Reports Increase in 2Q Sales, Income

Dubuque, Iowa-based furniture supplier Flexsteel Industries Inc. reported an increase in sales and net income for its second quarter. Net sales were $125.4 million for the quarter, ended Dec. 31, compared to $114.4 million in the prior year quarter, an increase of 9.6%. Net sales for the six months grew 12.9% to $251.9 million compared to $223.1 million in the prior year period. La Mesa RV Purchasing Site in Daytona Beach

La Mesa RV plans to open its first location in Daytona Beach, just south of the Daytona International Auto Mall, according to a report by the Daytona Beach News-Journal. La Mesa RV has agreed  to buy the former Marine Max site where it plans to open its dealership either late this month or in early March. A sale price was not disclosed. Cummins Plans Cutbacks as Profit, Sales Slide

Columbus, Ind.-based Cummins Inc. announced plans to scale back light-duty engine production in North America as a result of what COO Rich Freeland calls weakening market conditions. Inside Indiana Business reported that the announcement comes as the global engine manufacturer is reporting fourth-quarter net income of $161 million, compared to $444 million during the same period in 2014.
