Former Jayco Inc. President Allen “Al” Yoder Jr., 88, Middlebury, Ind., passed away at Elkhart General Hospital Tuesday afternoon (April 19) of natural causes. Yoder was a well-known RV industry figure who assumed the management reins at Jayco after the 1985 death in an air mishap of Jayco co-founder and chief executive Lloyd Bontrager. SSI: Trailers Power Up Feb. Towable Sales 8.1%

Behind continued strength in travel trailer sales, year-over-year towable retail registrations grew 8.1% in February while showing a 7.9% gain for the first two months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Results by category showed: Sales for the high-volume travel trailer segment increased 12.1% for the month and 10.4% year-to-date. RVIA: Feb. Shipments Up 12%, Best in 39 Years

In the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) February survey of manufacturers, RV wholesale shipments to retailers accelerated to 35,929 units this year, a 13.9% increase over last month and a 12.1% increase over this same month one year ago.
