Winnebago 2Q Income Up; Motorized Sales Dip

Winnebago Industries Inc. today (March 24) reported a 15.5% increase in net income for its fiscal second quarter, ended Feb. 27, despite a drop in motorized sales. Net income was $9.4 million, or 35 cents per diluted share, compared to $8.1 million, or 30 cents per diluted share, in the same period last year. Revenues for the second quarter were $225.7 million, a decrease of 3.8%, compared to $234.5 million a year ago. Towable retail sales were flat to open 2016, edging down 0.6% in January compared with the previous year. According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) results by category showed: Sales for the high-volume travel trailer segment were also flat for the month, slipping 0.1%. Fifth-wheel registrations slid 3.4% in January. January motorhome retail registrations grew 6.6% compared to the same period a year ago, according to the latest report by Statistical Surveys Inc. RVB/RV Trader Survey: An Upbeat ‘16 Outlook

Elkhart, Ind.-based Thor Industries Inc. today (March 7) reported double-digit gains in second-quarter sales and net income, boosted by acquisitions and continued strength in the RV sector during the early 2016 show circuit.
