Thetford Tentatively Settling 2012 Norcold Suit

Norcold Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Thetford Corp., has agreed to a $33 million settlement of two class action lawsuits filed in 2012 pending in federal district court in Los Angeles. The suits were filed on behalf of customers who had purchased certain Norcold gas absorption RV refrigerators and alleged the refrigerators had design defects that created safety risks and that the company had sought to hide from the public. Patrick Industries Inc. announced today (Sept. 8) that it has completed the acquisition of the business and certain assets of Elkhart, Ind.-based PolyDyn3 LLC. According to a news release, PolyDyn3 is a custom fabricator of simulated wood and stone products such as headboards, fireplaces, ceiling medallions, columns and trims, for the recreational vehicle market.
