Plans are well underway to commemorate next year’s 50th anniversary of the Detroit Camper & RV Show. RVIA Reports Louisville Show Attendance up 3%

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) National RV Trade Show, which concluded in Louisville, Ky., yesterday (Dec. 4), reported attendance for the three-day event was 7,724, representing a 3% increase from 7,528 last year. Dealer attendance was flat year-over-year at 2,454 compared to 2,453 in 2014 while the total number of buyers showed a 1% decline from 2,817 to 2,790. Winnebago to Build Diesel Coaches at Ore. Plant

Winnebago Industries Inc. announced its purchase of motorhome production facilities and equipment in Junction City, Ore., which formerly housed operations for Country Coach Inc. In total, the investment to support the expansion is estimated to be between $15-20 million, including land, buildings, necessary modifications, production equipment and technology infrastructure. Thor Industries Enjoys Record Start to Fiscal ’16

Thor Industries Inc. announced record sales, net income from continuing operations and backlogs for its fiscal 2016 first quarter, ended Oct. 31. Sales from continuing operations for the first quarter were $1.03 billion, up 12% from $922 million in the first quarter last year. RVIA: October Shipments Set 40-Plus Year High

RV wholesale shipments tracked by RVIA posted the highest October total in more than 40 years with 33,843 units shipped last month, 21% higher than September 2015 and 4.6% greater than October 2014. On a seasonally adjusted basis, October’s total reached above 405,000 units annualized. Through October, RV wholesale shipments have reached 318,892 units for 2015, 5% ahead of this point last year. SSI: Trailers Push Sept. Towables to 10.3% Gain

Led by strong performance in the travel trailer sector, year-over-year towable RV retail registrations grew 10.3% in September and 16.1% for the first nine months of 2015, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Results by category showed: Sales for the high-volume travel trailer segment increased 15.2% for the month and 19.7% year-to-date.
