It’s a good news-bad news story for the northern Indiana cities of Elkhart and Goshen and for the 500 workers being laid off by Diversified Machine, a manufacturer of automotive parts located in Bristol. SSI: March Canadian Towable Sales off 17.7%

Year-over-year Canadian towable sales declined 17.7% in March and 17.5% for the first three months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). Acquisitions, Aftermarket Sales Lift Drew 1Q

Drew Industries Inc., parent to Elkhart, Ind.-based Lippert Components Inc., today (May 9) reported an 80% increase in net income for its first quarter, ended March 31. Net income totaled $36 million, or $1.45 per diluted share, for the first quarter versus net income of $20.1 million, or 82 per cents diluted share, a year ago. Patrick 1Q Revenue Jumps 25% on RV Strength

Elkhart, Ind.-based component supplier Patrick Industries Inc. reported a 25% increase in year-over-year first-quarter revenue. Sales during the period, ended March 27, totaled $278.6 million compared with $223.4 million in the same quarter of 2015. The increase was primarily attributable to a 25% increase in the company’s revenue from the RV industry, which reflected the contribution from acquisitions completed in 2015 and in 2016, along with industry growth. RVIA: March Shipments Show 11.5% YOY Gain

RV shipments to retailers totaled 40,740 units in March, up 13.9% over the previous month and ahead of this same month last year by 11.5%, based on the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) latest monthly survey of manufacturers. This was the largest single monthly total for all RVs since March 2006.
