The 44th Annual Minneapolis/St. Paul RV, Vacation & Camping Show is underway at the Minneapolis Convention Center and runs through Sunday. It has 120 RVs on the floor this year. That’s 6% more than last year.
Increasingly more families seem to be turning to the recreation vehicle as an affordable way to travel.
According to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), RV manufacturers shipped 242,300 units in 2010. That is a 46.2% increase from the year before and it comes after a three-year slump in sales. A 4% increase is projected for 2011.
Local vendors and buyers attribute the jump to the economy. They say buyers seem to have enough money to spend on RVs but still want to save on vacation costs.
The RV show is sponsored by Affinity Group Inc. (AGI).
