Stoltzfus RV Goes Green, Installs Solar Panels

Stoltzfus RV & Marine recently partnered with Advanced Solar Industries, installing 923 solar panels to generate clean, sustainable energy at the West Chester, Pa., dealership.

According to a press release, the roof panels are expected to produce up to 90% of the facility’s power demand.

“I wanted a clean power energy solution, but also a clean conscience knowing that we were taking steps forward to be a responsible and sustainable business,” said owner Earl Stoltzfus.

Stoltzfus said he started researching the available tax benefits and incentives for solar about two years ago, but at the time it seemed too expensive. Josh Mitten, director of business development for Advanced Solar Industries, offered a plan that offset the up-front costs through energy savings, depreciation, a federal grant and a state rebate.

“I was always a believer in solar power, and am very excited to share our experience with our customers,” said Bob Cox, general manager at Stoltzfus RV & Marine. “We hope that our initiative to use green power makes our motorhomes and boats even more attractive.”

Electricity generated by the system will be measured in real-time via web-based monitoring, making it available for customers to view in the showroom.

Stoltzfus noted, “Advanced Solar Industries was 100% turnkey. They took care of us every step of the way and set a high bar for the solar industry.”
