Two men who respected each other’s work led to the formation of Antares Trailers in Winamac, Ind. And, according to a report by the South Bend Tribune, the company that was launched in February is off to a fast start.
Houston-based Antares Holdings, parent of Antares Trailers, which is leasing a 50,000-square-foot building that once housed Tippecanoe Beverages in Winamac where it assembles composite flatbed and drop deck trailers.
The company already has hired 16 of the 30 people it planned to hire this year, including welders, assemblers and trailer mechanics, according to Derrick Dilts, of Winamac, one of the partners in the new operation.
“We are definitely ahead of schedule,” said Dilts Tuesday. “I didn’t figure we would be up on 20 people until the middle of the summer. “Our plan with the state was to be up at 30 by the end of the year. We will probably be at 25 to 26 by mid- to late-summer. It’s going well. People are looking for work and we are finding for the most part, the people coming in are willing to work.”
