The New South Wales (NSW) Caravan, Camping, RV and Holiday Expo in Sydney, Australia, has broken the record for the largest ever one-day visitor numbers. According to a press release, last Sunday received the largest crowd numbers recorded since the commencement of the show 43 years ago.
A phenomenal 17,474 visitors passed through the gates at Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney. The NSW Supershow now holds the title for the largest crowd numbers recorded on a single day at any state caravan and camping exhibition. Supershow staff anticipate that visitor numbers could reach as high as 85,000.
Over nine days from 30 April – 8 May, visitors will browse and buy from over 400 caravan, camping, RV, holiday destination and leisure exhibitors. Visitors can research, review, book and buy all in the one location.
Barry Baillie, CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW attributes Sunday’s success to the continued strength of the caravan and camping industry “the caravan and camping industry has been the fastest growing domestic tourism sector in Australia for the past 12 years and Sunday’s results represent that 2011 is likely to maintain this trend”.
“This year is expected to be an excellent year for the caravan, camping and touring sector as more Australians are turning to value for money holidays, searching for that priceless holiday without the expensive price tag,” said Baillie.
Another first for the 2011 Caravan, Camping, RV and Holiday Supershow is the passport competition, which this year is the largest giveaway in Supershow history. On behalf of Outdoors and Beyond the first prize is valued at $82,000 and includes and twin-cab ute, camper trailer, kayaks and a huge range of camping gear.
