A recent report reveals the popularity of Australian motorhome and campervan vacations are on the increase, according to a press release.
The research conducted by the Caravan and Recreation Vehicle Association of Australia (CRVA) found 57% of survey respondents said campervan (Class B motorhome) and caravan (towable RV) holidays are ‘very good value’ when compared to other accommodation and 58% said this type of accommodation was the least expensive.
Other key findings in the report revealed that visitors to campgrounds and caravan parks increased around 8% in the last two years, and that almost 3 million of respondents intend to take to take this type of holiday in the next two years.
The report also found that seven million Australians have visited a camping or holiday park in the last two years, up from 6.5 million between 2006/08.
Apollo Motorhome Holidays chief executive Luke Trouchet said the company will expand their fleet next year to cater to the significant increase in interest from Australia families.
“Traditionally the grey nomads have been the ones to hit the road, but we are seeing an almost nostalgic return to the good old fashioned family holiday on wheels,” Trouchet said. “More than half of the visitors to caravan parks around Australia are families holidaying with children, and they cite value and ease as the key motivators for their holiday choice.
Out of the 54% of visitors to caravan parks traveling with children within the six to 12 age group said they found camping holidays the most relaxing.
On the heels of the 2011 Sterling travel trailer launch by Jayco Australia comes the release of the new Double Slideout Sterling.
According to the builder, which is an affiliate of Middlebury, Ind.-based Jayco Inc., the innovative Double Slideout Sterling brings “even greater levels of style and comfort thanks to its unique design and layout.” At the push of a button, both the bed and the dinette can expand or contract, providing extra room in the living area of the trailer.
The interior includes a choice of five stylish leather upholstery colors, patented aluminum furniture construction and a roomy refrigerator. The Sterling Double Slideout also includes Italian styled door handles, a new square vanity basin and energy-efficient LED lighting.
The new Sterling is also designed to handle Australia’s rugged terrain, offering a “Tough Frame” that is a combination of a strong aluminum frame bonded with ply and a fibreglass skin, giving owners peace of mind knowing their trailer is robustly built and virtually hail- and dent-resistant. As with all Jayco Australia products, the Sterling’s chassis is hot dipped galvanized for long life, strength and protection.
“Packed with features, the 2011 Sterling Double Slideout is certain to become one of Jayco’s most popular caravans,” said Marketing Director Andrew Ryan. “We were one of the first Australian companies to introduce the electric slideout function and we have seen a rise in the number of orders for the slideout feature in other models.”
Jayco Australia is also offering three-year roadside assistance and a 12-month warranty. The Sterling Double Slideout is available at all Jayco dealers across Australia and New Zealand.
