Great Britain’s largest RV show — International Caravan & Motorhome 2010 — which opens Tuesday (Oct. 12) and runs through Sunday (Oct. 17), is expected to draw some 80,000 visitors to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.

Last year a record 79,218 visitors attended the show during its six-day run, a 13% increase on 2008, spending a total of more $159 million, according to organizer Clarion Events.

“This year we expect to welcome even more visitors,” promoters noted on the show’s website.
The show will take up nine halls in the massive NEC where more than 350 manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers will be displaying product.

Last year’s show saw the official launch of the prestigious Bailey Pegasus travel trailer and the exciting Stealth Caravan as well as many other new models and products.

Many of the exhibitors last year enjoyed record levels of sales thanks to the huge number of visitors — that goes for both high and lower value products. Leading manufacturer Bailey Caravans enjoyed their best ever sales performance at an exhibition in terms of both volume and value of orders, and first time exhibitor “Flush-It” introduced its new cleaning product “One-Chem” and sold more than double their targeted amount.

A survey of visitors last year found:
• 80% purchased accessories at the show.
• 30% attended to research before making a new purchase.
• 15% attended to the show with the specific intention of purchasing a new unit.
• 34% said they were newcomers to caravanning and motorhoming.
