A Sunday (Jan. 6) morning fire caused extensive damage to an Idaho RV dealership.
East Idaho News reported that the blaze at Bish’s RV in Idaho Falls apparently started in the service department, destroying a bathroom and damaging service bays and trailers.
Officials say there was extensive smoke damage to the rest of the building. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Managers at the dealership hoped to have the business reopened by today.
With an intense final elimination round and a subsequent 4-to-1-vote by the judges, Kacey Jensen won the 2010 Bish’s RV Challenge sponsored by Bish’s RV, Idaho Falls, Idaho. For his efforts, Jensen won a 2011 Dutchmen 275 BH travel trailer. The contest began on Sept. 13 with 12 contestants roughing it for a week in a confined, fenced-in area. They camped in an RV with only the clothes on their backs, a sleeping bag and one personal item. Each day, two contestants were voted out after trying to complete the daily challenges. The contest concluded on Sept. 17. For more information and the latest updates on the Challenge, visit www.facebook.com/bishsrvsupercenter.
Monday (Sept. 13) was the first day of the Bish’s RV Challenge in Idaho Falls, Idaho, KPVI-TV, Pocatello, reported.
Twelve contestants will try and rough it out for a week, confined in a fenced in area. They will be camping in an RV with only the clothes on their back, a sleeping bag and one personal item.
Each day, two contestants will be voted out after trying to complete the daily challenges. Their objective is to win a brand new 2011 Dutchmen travel trailer, provided by Bish’s
Bish’s RV held the event two years ago and wanted to bring the challenge back to the community.
“We just want to bring it back and let people know we’re here and we want to be a part of the community,” said Megan Walker of Bish’s RV. “Come win an RV and go camping. The ultimate goal is to get people out there and camping.”
Each day this week at 5 p.m., the contestants will have a new challenge and by Friday there will only be one person left to win the new RV.
Bish’s RV in Pocatello, Idaho, expects this to be their top selling year in over five years.
Nationally, since RV sales dipped in 2007, experts say 2010 will be the first year RV sales are expected to rebound, and eastern Idaho seems to be no exception, according to KPVI-TV, Pocatello.
On both Friday and Saturday, Bish’s Pocatello location sold five RVs — the month of May being their best month for sales in 2010. Bish’s RV sales professional Ryan Platt said they are already up 150% in sales from just last year.
Bish’s RV is giving away a truck valued at $40,000 next month to someone who purchased an RV in May, and this month they will be having a minute-to-win-it competition, and are giving away a free trailer … but beyond the give-aways, Platt attributes the increase of RV sales to the economy, but also to eastern Idaho recreation.
“It is exciting,” said Platt. “It shows us that people really want to get out and camp. You know, they’re not too worried about the economy. They just want to get out and have some fun.”
