SSI: Jan. Canadian Towable Sales Down 19.7%

Year-over-year Canadian retail sales of towable RVs decreased 19.7% in January, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 2o.6% in January.

• Fifth-wheel sales declined 14.9% for the month.

• Folding camping trailer registrations were down 28.6% in January.

• Recreational park trailers sales retreated 37.5% for the month.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader for the month with a 36.7% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (17%) and Jayco Inc. (10.7%). Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales in January with a 32.5% market share while Forest River was No. 2 with a 16.6% share, followed by Jayco with a 12.2% share.

Thor held a commanding lead in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector in January, capturing a 50.8% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting an 18.3% share followed by Palomino RV at 7.9%. Thor was also No. 1 in park model sales with a 60% share followed by Bridgeview Manufacturing and Superior Park Model with a 20% share.

Jayco led Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the month with a 40% market share while Columbia Northwest Inc./Aliner and Forest River each posted a 20% share.

SSI: Canada Towable Sales Flat for ’12, Up 1%

Year-over-year Canadian retail sales of towable RVs increased 33.7% in December, but remained flat for 2012, up 1.1%, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc.

Results by segment showed:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector rose 26.4%% in December and 3.1% for the 12 months.

• Fifth-wheel sales grew 46.1% for the month and edged up 1.4% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer registrations gained 25% in December but declined 17.1% for the 12 months.

• Recreational park trailers segment surged 140% for the month, but fell 16.5% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader for the full year with a 35.2% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (16.9%) and Jayco Inc. (15.3%).

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for 2012 with a 33.7% market share while Jayco was No. 2 with a 17.1% share, followed by Forest River with a 15.8% share.

Thor held a commanding lead in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector through December, capturing a 47.3% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 16.8% share followed by Palomino RV at 9.2%. Thor was also No. 1 in park model sales with a 48.2% share followed by Forest River (13.9%) and General Coach (10.2%).

Forest River led Canadian folding camping trailer sales for the 12 months with a 32.3% market share while Jayco posted a 28% share and Forest River’s Coachmen RV division held an 18.6% share.

Year-over-year Canadian retail sales of towable RVs declined 4.2% in August and edged down 1% for the first eight months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). The Grand Rapids. Mich.-based firm noted that the provinces of British Columbia and Manitoba are incomplete.

A sector-by-sector breakdown shows:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector fell 2.9% in August and were flat for the eight months, up 0.6%.

• Fifth-wheel sales were off 0.7% for the month and edged up 0.2% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 24.2% in August and 18.7% for the eight months.

• Recreational park trailers declined 37.9% for the month and 24.8% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through August with a 34.5% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. (17.4%) and Jayco Inc. (17%).

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the eight months with a 33.7% market share while Jayco was No. 2 with an 18.7% share, followed by Forest River with a 16.3% share.

Year-over-year Canadian retail sales of towable RVs declined 11.4% in June and edged down 0.4% for the first six months, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI). The Grand Rapids. Mich.-based firm noted that the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario are incomplete for the month.

A sector-by-sector breakdown shows:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector were down 9.1% in June, while showing a 1.6% gain for the six months.

• Fifth-wheel sales declined 16.9% for the month and 1.7% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 16.3% in June and 16.6% for the six months.

• Recreational park trailers declined 30.9% for the month and 18.8% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through June with a 34.1% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. and Jayco Inc., both capturing a 17.4% share. Forest River’s Coachmen RV division was third at 5.4%

Thor was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the six months with a 33.4% market share. Jayco was No. 2 with an 18.9% share, followed by Forest River with a 16.3% share.

Thor held a commanding lead in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector through June, capturing a 45.2% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting an 17.9% share followed by Jayco at 9.3%. Thor was also No. 1 in park model sales with a 43.8% share followed by Forest River (14.4%) and General Coach (13.1%).

Jayco led folding camping trailer sales for the six months with a 30.5% market share while Forest River posted a 30.3% share and Coachmen RV held an 17.5% share.

Mich.-based firm noted that the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario are incomplete for the month and data for Quebec is not currently available for towable units.

A sector-by-sector breakdown shows:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector rose 6.6% in April and posted an 11.7% gain for the four months.

• Fifth-wheel sales edged up 2.5% for the month and 4.8% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 18.3% in April and 14.5% for the four months.

• Recreational park trailers declined 19.4% in April but were up 5.7% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through April with a 34.1% market share, followed by Jayco Inc. at 17.4% and Forest River Inc. at No. 3, holding a 17% share.

Thor also was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the four months with a 33.1% market share while Jayco was No. 2 with an 19% share, followed by Forest River, which captured a 16.2% share.

Thor held a commanding lead in the Canadian fifth-wheel sector through April, capturing a 44.9% market share, with Forest River at No. 2 posting a 17.5% share followed by Jayco (9.7%). Thor was also No. 1 in park model sales with a 41.1% share followed by General Coach (19.6%) and Forest River (12.5%).

Jayco led folding camping trailer sales for the four months with a 29.6% market share while Forest River posted a 28.2% share and Forest River’s Coachmen RV division held a 20.5% share.

Mich.-based firm noted that the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario are incomplete for the month and data for Quebec is not currently available for towable units.

A sector-by-sector breakdown indicates:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector surged 24.4% in March and showed a 17.9% gain for the three months.

• Fifth-wheel sales increased 23.8% for the month and 7% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 12.2% in March and 9.1% for the first quarter.

• Recreational park trailers were up 220% in March on relatively low volume and 40% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader through March with a 33.7% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. at 17.2% and Jayco Inc. at No. 3, holding a 16.8% share.

Thor also was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the three months with a 32.9% market share while Jayco was No. 2 with an 18.2% share, followed by Forest River, which captured a 16.7% share.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), a sector-by-sector breakdown indicates:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector surged 21.8% in December, ending the year with a 6% gain.

• Fifth-wheel sales dropped 17.3% for the month and slid 0.9% for 2011.

• Folding camping trailer registrations fell 20% in December and 11.7% for the 12 months.

• Recreational park trailers plummeted 54.5% in December, ending the year down 12%.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader for 2011 with a 33.3% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. at 18.3% and Jayco Inc. at No. 3, holding a 16.1% share.

Thor also was also the leader in travel trailer sales for the 12 months with a 31.9% market share while Forest River was No. 2 with a 17.7% share, edging out Jayco, which captured a 17.5% share.

A sector-by-sector breakdown indicates:

• Sales in the travel trailer sector increased 8.4% in November and 5.8% year-to-date.

• Fifth-wheel sales edged up 2.9% for the month and slid 0.7% through November.

• Folding camping trailer registrations dropped 9.1% in November and 11.8% for the first 11 months.

• Recreational park trailers sales in November matched last year, but fell 11% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader for the 11 months with a 33.2% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. at 18.3% and Jayco Inc. at No. 3, holding a 16.1% share.

• Fifth-wheel sales were fell 6.7% for the month and edged down 2.1% through October.

• Folding camping trailers registrations dropped 20% in October and 12.2% for the first 10 months.

• Recreational park trailers sales declined 66.7% for the month and fell 12.3% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towables sales leader for the 10 months with a 33.0% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. at 18.4% and Jayco Inc. was No. 3, holding a 16.2% share.

Thor also was the leader in travel trailer sales through October with a 31.7% market share while Forest River was No. 2 with a 17.9% share, edging out Jayco, which captured a 17.5% share.
