The Challenger Door Co. is now making RV doors at its new location in Nappanee, Ind., according to WNDU-TV, South Bend.
The company moved into three buildings that were vacant when Monaco Coach Corp. shut down in 2008. The move has doubled Challenger’s factory size.
“Our sales have gone up every month, but again it is attributed to the RV industry because it is creeping back up as well,” says Glenn Borkholder, sales manager from Challenger.
Challenger also has diversified its business and started making aluminum cabinets for garages, tools and race car trailers.
“We build entrance doors, compartment doors, bed doors, tent doors for the RV industry. We build ramp doors as well; our customers would include some companies like Jayco or Forest River,” says Matt Miller, sales manager from Challenger.
The owner of Challenger started the business when the RV market bottomed out but took a leap of faith.
Challenger plans to debut a new home line with a patio bar at the Michiana Home Show the first weekend of March.
