Keystone Adds New ‘Helium Technology’ Floorplans

Keystone MontanaKeystone RV Co., Goshen, Ind., has added three lighter ”Helium Technology” floorplans to its popular Montana high-profile and Cougar mid-profile fifth-wheel series. ”We looked at roofs, countertops, frames, sidewalls and found new ways to do it with new materials without sacrificing quality and features,” said Aram Koltookian, general manager of Keystone’s Montana/Cougar Group. The ”Helium” construction process removes up to 1,400 pounds from the standard Montana fifth-wheel, the company reports. For instance, the 33-foot four-slide Montana built with ”Helium Technology” featuring Azdel SuperLite sidewalls has a dry weight of 9,400 pounds. Base MSRP’s for the Montana Helium are in the mid-$40,000s. At the recent Louisville Show, Keystone also introduced the redesigned Premier by Bullet ultralight travel trailer in 19- to 35-foot lengths, including a 31BH floorplan with an elaborate outdoor kitchen and entertainment center. MSRPs start at $16,500.

Keystone to Increase Montana Production 60%

Keystone Rv Co. logoKeystone RV’s flagship Montana brand will be adding another factory and increasing production 60% this winter to keep up with growing sales, according to a news release.

“Getting more units into the marketplace quickly will help satisfy the resurgent RV demand that we are seeing with Montana,” stated Montana and Cougar Group General Manager Aram Koltookian. “As the No. 1 selling fifth-wheel, nine years straight, we are talking about a significant number of additional Montana fifth-wheels that will be available due to this expansion.”

Each year the Montana group has gone to the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., with new features and floorplans that are unique to the industry, he noted. This year is no exception.

“Innovation is the driving force behind the Montana line and one of the reasons we have earned the No. 1 sales position nine consecutive years,” stated Brian Doss, Montana Group product manager.

According to Doss, Montana will showcase more new models and features than ever before, including an all-new “Helium Technology” product line that changes the way RVs are built.

Keystone RV’s Cougar No. 1 in Stat Surveys

Keystone RV Inc.’s Cougar brand earned the number one spot in retail sales for laminated travel trailers and fifth-wheels, according to a release from Goshen, Ind.-based Keystone. 

In addition to the No. 1 ranking, Cougar travel trailers and fifth-wheels also experienced 2008 market share growth in excess of 20%, outpacing all other brands nationally in total sales, Keystone reports.

Cougar General Manager Chris Hermon credited competitive product and loyal dealers for the brand’s success. Said Hermon, “Every person in our Cougar organization and especially our product development team is committed to being the very best at their particular area of expertise. We all understand we have to work very hard to keep dominating and leading the way. As a group we are all on the same page. This award shows that we have a real pulse on what customers want.”

Among the product innovations that keep Cougar on top is an industry-first side aisle bath fifth-wheel floorplan with linen closet slideout in the bathroom. Five additional new Cougar models have also been introduced along with debut of the customer-friendly iPod-sized Cougar Remote that controls the operation of slideout rooms, landing gear, as well as docking lights, the company noted.

“We understand we need to continue to hit the sweet spot between great looks and features and a great price,” said Cougar Product Manager Jeff Runels. “Dealers and customers continue to look at Cougar as an exceptional travel trailer and fifth-wheel brand. This environment continues to draw more people our way.”

Added Hermon, “We understand that exciting product keeps salespeople and dealers excited. We continue to be very committed to being that type of brand for our dealers.”
