Orbiter exteriorThe Dobbertin Surface Orbiter has got to be one of the most unusual home-brew RVs ever constructed. The basis for this wild RV, which can travel by land or by sea, is a 1959 milk tanker, and after 14,000 man-hours of conversion work, it’s ready for you to take it home. Orbiter interiorThe Orbiter is Rick Dobbertin’s brain-child. The Syracuse, N.Y., man built it for a round-the-world journey, but his plans ran out of gas when he ran out of money. Still, the Orbiter has logged over 33,000 land miles and 3,000 open sea miles.¬†Dual controls forward make arguments about where to go a reality.¬†Photos courtesy of
