Dometic Environmental Corp. (Dometic Marine), a leading U.S. manufacturer of air conditioning, refrigeration, sanitation and other marine accessory products based in Pompano Beach, Fla., has been honored with the Presidential “E Star” Award for sustained excellence in exporting.

Dometic Marine previously received the “E” Award on two other occasions. Only 21 companies nationwide received either the coveted “E” or “E Star” banner this year, and only four, including Dometic, received the “E Star” award, according to a news release.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke presented the awards to these leading U.S. exporting companies in a ceremony on Nov. 5 at the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. The award was accepted by Ned Trigg, senior vice president, Global Systems Sales of Dometic Marine, and Doug Whyte, president Dometic LLC, on behalf of Dometic.

“I’m a great believer in the ability of American companies and workers to compete anytime, anywhere in the world, on a level playing field. We’re here today to honor the people, firms and organizations that produce and promote U.S. goods and services that support American jobs,” Locke said. “Trade has always been crucial to American prosperity. But, in today’s difficult economic times, with other drivers of growth like consumer spending flagging, it’s even more important for American industry to take advantage of every opportunity for export-driven growth.”

The Presidential “E” Award was created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, to recognize persons, firms or organizations that contribute significantly to increasing U. S. exports. The Presidential “E Star” Award recognizes continued superior performance in increasing or promoting exports.

“This is a great honor for our company and employees to be recognized once again as one of the top performers in exporting,” said Frank Marciano, president of Dometic Marine. “We have been proudly displaying the ‘E’ banner since winning the original ‘E’ Award, and now we’ll be even more proud to fly the ‘E Star’ flag as a repeat winner.”
