Northwood Manufacturing Inc., an RV manufacturer based in La Grande, Ore., was the successful high bidder today (May 13) for the former Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. travel trailer plant also located in La Grande.

Northwood’s bid was $2.05 million, attorney Craig Millet reported to RVBusiness en route back from today’s hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, Calif.

The sale was approved the bankruptcy court judge and is is to close as soon as possible, he said.

Northwood was bidding against British Columbia RV dealer Craig Little, who operates five RV stores on Vancouver Island.

Both men indicated before today’s hearing that they proposed to resume travel trailer production in the plant.

Northwood manufactures travel trailers, truck campers, fifth-wheels and sport utility trailers.

Northwood owner Ron Nash was unavailable to comment on how he will utilize the plant and equipment. The facility is located about two miles from Northwood’s plant in La Grande.

Also during today’s hearing, the judge OK’d the transfer of a lease from Fleetwood to Krystal Coach Inc. of Brea, Calif., of Fleetwood’s travel trailer plant in Mexicali, Mexico. That transfer also is to close as soon as possible, Millet said.

Millet is affiliated with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, the law firm assisting Fleetwood during its Chapter 11 proceedings.
