Using materials from the aircraft, marine and automotive industries, Earthbound LLC showed its stylish, eco-friendly 2011 Earthbound travel trailer at the 48th Annual National RV Trade Show last week in Louisville, Ky. With 26- to 30-foot floorplans, some with single slideouts, the lightweight Earthbound travel trailer has dry weights ranging from 4,140 pound to 5,010 pounds and contains no wood. A specially designed frame provides a lower center of gravity for easier towing. Positioned to compete for an Airstream buyer, Earthbound features seamless aluminum sidewalls with automotive clear coat, one-piece fiberglass front and rear caps with aluminum inserts in addition to radius all-composite cabinets. The Earthbound travel trailer comes with few options. ”We’ve standardized everything in the unit,” said C. David Hoefer, chairman of the Marion, Ind., towable builder. ”There are only four options — a cork floor, leather valances, a tankless water heater and a hitch on the back.” Base MSRP: $47,000.
