El Monte RV, one of America’s largest RV rental companies, has created a comprehensive information website portal for travelers planning to visit U.S. national parks by RV.
This approach allows anyone from around the world arranging a trip to U.S. national parks, forests or federal recreation areas to find complete information on campsites, fees and area attractions quickly, according to a news release. A single page on the El Monte RV Rental site links to National Parks Service (NPS) web pages for every state.
In addition, the Los Angeles-based recreational vehicle rental firm provides information on the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, an annual pass available through the NPS that allows non-commercial vehicles access to sites normally charging a per-person fee.
By combining information on recreational vehicles available for rent with a comprehensive guide to U.S. National Parks, El Monte RV facilitates streamlined travel planning. With more than 60 RV rental locations, the firm hopes to encourage RV rental travel planning by making national parks tourism a more attractive option
To recognize its promotion of a voluntary carbon offset program, El Monte RV will be a featured AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah (AAA NCNU) Greenlight partner during the Auto Club’s annual Alternative Fuels Awareness Month in November.
The month-long initiative highlights the efforts of AAA Show Your Card & Save (SYCS) partners to promote alternative fuels and environmentally sound fuel consumption practices to their clients, according to a news release.
El Monte RV offers RV rental customers the opportunity to purchase carbon offsets. A carbon offset represents the reduction of one metric ton of carbon dioxide emissions, a principal cause of global warming. El Monte RV works with TerraPass to purchase these carbon offsets. The reduction occurs as TerraPass uses the proceeds of carbon offset sales to fund carbon emissions reduction projects such as wind farms, methane gas reduction and others.
El Monte RV leads the industry in promoting “green” RV rental practices and is the first recreational vehicle rental firm to promote a carbon offset program. For more information on El Monte RV Rental’s green rv rental initiatives visit the El Monte RV Green RV’ing guide.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, El Monte RV is one of America’s leading motorhome and RV rental and sales companies, catering to both international and domestic travelers. The company has experienced rapid growth throughout the United States and is the only nationwide motorhome rental company to offer the larger Class A luxury vehicles for rent.
Comfort and relative affordability are two reasons why some travelers and RV renters say rentals are up this year over last year, while RV sales are down in the sluggish economy.
About 5 percent of the nation’s 3,100 dealerships nationwide have closed in recent months and about 10 of 105 U.S. RV manufacturers have stopped production, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). Sales are expected to be down 40% from 2008, the RVIA said.
But rental activity will be up about 12% this year, according to the Fairfax, Va.-based RV Rental Association (RVRA).
Businesses that sell and rent RVs in the Reno, Nev., area say they are seeing more rentals, especially around holidays such as the Fourth of July and next month’s Burning Man counterculture arts festival, for which local dealers have been booked for months, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
“Yes, the economy has slowed down, but people still take vacations,” said Veera On Ta, owner of El Monte RV in Reno. “Our rentals are up 10% from last year.”
Cruise America in Reno has seen a 10% drop in business from last year, manager Wes Johnson said, but he expects things to turn around with a mid-season surge through September.
“The last few weeks have been great,” Johnson said. “We have eight units here, and just one has canceled, so its not doing too bad.”
And Classic Adventures RV Rentals is seeing brisk business, general manager Erik Schultz said.
RV travel and camping are receiving a timely boost with the debut of NBC’s Great American Road Trip, the reality TV show showcasing the adventures of seven families traveling in motorhomes on a cross-country road trip.
“This is tremendous exposure for the RV industry coming at a time when American families are focused on summer travel,” said Gary LaBella, RVIA vice president and chief marketing officer, in a news release following the show’s debut Tuesday night (July 7). “The message of the show reflects the appeal of RVing…that families reconnect and recharge as they spend time together traveling.”
Airing on NBC on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EDT, the Great American Road Trip is a new series where seven families from divergent backgrounds take the vacation of a lifetime. Over eight episodes the families will travel iconic Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles in their own motorhome through cities large and small, all while competing in a medley of humorous challenges that will ultimately lead one family to victory.
El Monte RV, a national RV rental company, provided the motorhomes used in the Great American Road Trip. The units are Bounder type A motorhomes built by Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. RVIA’s Public Relations Department worked with the program’s producers on content and messaging.
“The premier really had some nice moments, including the beautiful sights seen from the RV and family and friends bonding at the campground,” said LaBella. “We’re hopeful this continues throughout the remainder of the show and grateful to El Monte for making this wonderful exposure possible. The series has the potential to make millions more American families aware of the benefits of RV travel and camping this summer and beyond.”
