A Washington-based company that manufactures and distributes trailer running gear and other components for the trailer industry recently announced it will expand its operations into Elkhart County, Ind., according to the South Bend Tribune.

Global Direct Components will begin operating next month at a facility at 21815 Beck Drive, Elkhart. The company will start with about 10 employees and possibly hire as many as 50 during the next few years, said Dean Samuelson, vice president of operations.

“This is a large market for trailers, so that’s where you need to be,” Samuelson said.

Global Direct Components will manufacture and distribute a full product line of trailer running gear — including torsion and spring axles — and will distribute a complete product line of tire and wheel assemblies.

“We are unique in that we can be a single-source supplier for our customers’ trailer running-gear needs,” said Paul Lockwood, an Elkhart native, who will be the general manager of the Elkhart location.

Lockwood said the company serves the utility, cargo, farm, livestock, equipment, recreational vehicle and marine trailer markets.

Those looking to apply for a job can drop off a resume at the Elkhart location.

The company, based in Puyallup, Wash., was started in 2001 and has another location in Riverside, Calif. It is a subsidiary of JCA Corp.
