The 2012 Caravan and Motorhome Show in Manchester, England closed its doors for another year on Sunday (Jan. 22), but already one manufacturer has revealed just how successful the show was.
Caravan Times reported that Swift Caravans claimed sales of its touring caravans and motorhomes more than double at this year’s event, notching up more than $6 million worth of purchases during the show.
This amounts to an impressive $1.5 million per day of the show, with the East Yorkshire manufacturer crediting its range of lightweight and low-priced tourers for its impressive performance.
All of the Sprite and Sprite Lite ranges were on display at the show, while Swift was also showcasing six new models in its Challenger Sport and Sterling Eccles Sport ranges.
Nick Page, Commercial Director at Swift Group, said: “By giving people products that are more cost effective, better designed and in the case of our tourers, lighter and easier to tow with smaller cars, we are seeing some very positive results.”
He added that the company has now sold its entire production batch of the 2012 models, allowing it to focus production on the models that customers have shown most interest in.
Eterniti RV, a startup in Goshen, Ind., building trailers for the English marketplace, has revealed its first travel trailer line featuring a single slideout, according to a report in Caravan Times.
This brand new luxury line will include four different layouts, ranging from four to six berths, and prices will start at around $34,000. The Eterniti trailer will be debuting at next week’s Manchester Caravan & Motorhome Show.
Eterniti is the second slideout-equipped RV to be launched in the UK in the past 12 months, following in the footsteps of the Welsh-made fifth-wheel Inos. The Eterniti line will include an electric-powered slide-out section, which will greatly expand the living space in less than a minute, according to Caravan Times.
Other premium features include an electric-powered sun awnings, air conditioning, keyless entry, a built-in bathtub and a super-king sized front dinette in all models.
The Eterniti range has been built in the Goshen using the German-made BPW chassis, but the resulting trailer will still be road legal for towing in the UK.
At launch, there will be four different layouts:
• The single-axle EC1-22-FB4 features a front dinette and a king-size futon in the slideout, as well as a nearside kitchen area and a spacious end bathroom.
• The single-axle EC1-22-BB5 features a bunk bed arrangement, while the twin-axle EC1-26-IB4 boasts a king-size transverse island bed, which slides out from the offside area.
• The six-berth twin-axle EC2-26-BB6 includes an offside dinette as well as a rear triple bunk, which is tucked in at the end behind the large bathroom.
English-based Compass Caravans has launched a brand new premium luxury trailer that will be on display during the Motorhome and Caravan 2011 show, set to run Oct. 11-16 at the NEC in Birmingham.
According to a press release, the Compass Volante boasts a completely new interior offering “unparalleled luxury,” set off by rich wood tones and chrome fittings. “Soft” furnishings come in “aqua clean” fabrics for simple cleaning, while the color scheme of caramel and beige was chosen for a “fresh look and feel”.
The high-end appointments continue in the bathroom, where the oversized shower cubicle features an integrated LED lighting console. Meanwhile the caravan features a strengthened a-frame cover enabling customers to stand on it to clean the caravan.
Available to buy from the first day of the October caravan show, the Compass Volante will come in four floorplans.
“Creating real space was a priority; the interior is exceptionally spacious, and this is combined with a new sleeping design that gives extra storage space, plus an extremely wide gas locker,” said Adrian Pattern, commercial director for Discover Leisure. “On top of that it offers surprising value despite being what we consider to be the most exceptional premium unit on the market”.
