A motorhome based on a Fiat diesel van took the top spot at a new British awards ceremony.
The Knaus Sky TI 650 MF was named Motorhome of the Year 2012 as well as taking the Fixed Bed Coachbuilt award at the inaugural motorhome of the year awards.
The awards, sponsored by the Caravan Club, were held at the Luton Hoo Hotel attended by dealers and manufacturers from the motorhome industry.
Priced from around $82,000 the Knaus Sky TI 650 MF is built on a Fiat Ducato chassis. The Chrysler Group recently announced it will sell a commercial van in North America based on the platform under the Ram brand.
Knaus motorhomes are manufactured in Germany and have two U.K. dealers, Southdown Motorcaravans in Hampshire and Lowdhams, who have a dealership in Huddersfield and another in Nottingham.
The Motorhome of the Year awards are run by Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly magazine and Which Motorhome.
The Knaus Sky TI 650 MF is a fixed bed coachbuilt motorhome and impressed the judges from MMM and Which Motorhome with its value for money, excellent design and impressive levels of equipment.
Judge Rachel Stothert, MMM’s deputy editor, said: “A great German motorhome which ticks the boxes.”
Dave Hurrell, road test editor for MMM and senior judge, said: “The epitome of a French bed low profile layout, this Sky adds bags of style and practicality.”
