The Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) reported strong attendance and a collective positive attitude at its 2011 convention, held Dec. 5-7 at the Erie Bayfront Convention Center and the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel.
According to a press release, the event attracted over 150 attendees from 60 Pennsylvania campgrounds along with representatives from four out-of-state campgrounds. A total of 56 exhibitors displaying an array of campground-related products participated in the trade show.
Kampgrounds of America Inc. CEO Jim Rogers delivered the keynote address. Titled “Majoring in Minors.” Rogers stressed the importance of building guest loyalty through sticking to the basics.
Twelve seminars were presented during the convention along with a dozen round table discussions. In addition, the Pennsylvania Auction raised funds for educational scholarships and the National School of RV Park and Campground Management.
During PCOA’s annual meeting, attended by 46 campgrounds, officers for the coming year were elected, including: President Mark Wineman Kalyumet Campground, Lucinda, Pa.; Vice President Jason Vaughan, Mountain Vista Campground, East Stroudsburg, Pa.; Secretary Bruce Heasley, Holiday Pines Campground, Loganton, Pa.; Treasurer Jason Sheaffer, Pinch Pond Campground, Manheim, Pa.; Regions I and II Vice President Denny Quigley, Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest, Harrisville, Pa.; Regions III and IV Vice President Tammy Boltz, Lickdale Campground, Jonestown, Pa.; Regions V and VI Vice Preisdent Barbara Repetski, Hemlock Campground, Tobyhanna, Pa.; and Region IV Director Ryan McFarland, Buttonwood Campground, Mexico, Pa.
Debby Yeager, Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping, New Castle, Pa., was appointed as Director at Large.
