Ford Motor Co.'s new Transit Connect
Ford Motor Co.’s new Transit Connect is becoming quite popular with small businesses but some U.S. motorized RV manufacturers may see it as a candidate for use by a downsize-minded RV industry. The vehicle gets an EPA-estimated 22 mph in the city, 25 mpg on the highway and features a 2.0-liter Duratec I-4 engine. The smaller of two versions of the van sold in Europe, Transit Connect is specifically designed for tight, urban environments, where space is at a premium and fuel prices are high. It has a surprising amount of cargo room inside, a total of 143 cubic feet in the 6-foot-six-inch by 4-foot-8-inch space.
