An Indiana-based plastics company appears to be on the verge of shutting down.
Inside INdiana Business reported that Fortis Plastics LLC, a prominent plastics manufacturer which operated three plants in Elkhart, has notified the state of plans to close its headquarters and manufacturing facility in South Bend by the end of the year unless it can secure more capital.
The move would affect approximately 90 workers.
The trade website Plasticsnews.com reports the notice follows the company’s recent announcements that it will be closing plants in Missouri and Arkansas and already closed facilities in Elkhart, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi and Kentucky over the past three years.
The company formed in 2008 as a combination of Legget & Platt Inc.’s plastics division and Atlantis Plastics LLC.
