The recreational vehicle business is bringing more jobs to Indiana’s Elkhart County.
The South Bend Tribune reported that California-based RV supplier Girard Systems and Girard Products LLC is currently in the process of moving into a 30,800-square-foot facility in Goshen. The move puts Girard, which makes tankless water heaters and awnings for RVs, closer to the industry it serves.
It will be adding from 25 to 30 jobs over the next year to 18 months, according to Jerry Rennert, general manager of Girard Products., as it moves the entire water heater operation to Goshen.
“It puts us in the heart of our customer base so we can do a better job economically,” Rennert said.
Rennert said the San Clemente-based company was running out of space in a similar sized facility, which it will maintain.
“It didn’t make too much sense to buy or lease a facility in California when you know the majority of the business is here,” he said.
It looked for a couple of years and finally made the decision to come to Goshen. The property also has four additional acres behind the building Girard is leasing, Rennert said.
“We’re here to stay,” Rennert said. “Our Girard Products, which is our tankless water heater business, has grown dramatically. And Girard Systems, our awning business, has grown dramatically.

Girard Systems and Girard Products LLC have opened a new facility in Goshen, Ind., to house operations for its tankless water heater with plans to add other product lines next year.
“Our business has dramatically increased and we have outgrown our San Clemente, Calif., facility,” said CEO and President Marcia Girard. “Our goal is to be closer to our customers and provide faster service.”
Girard said the company will conduct R&D, testing and order processing, and shipping for its tankless water heater starting in November.
“We have many new innovative products in development and being in Goshen will allow us to work closely with our OEM customers in their development,” Girard said.
Girard Systems said it has new awnings in development and will begin to expand certain awning and shade products production to Goshen after the first of the year.
The new facility is located at 2515 Lombardy Drive in Goshen.
