HGTV and Nancy Glass Productions returned to America’s Largest RV Show in Hershey, Pa., to film their highly-rated special RV 2014. According to a press release, the segment will premiere on Jan. 1, 2014, and feature the newest RVs and products available to RVers.
First-time host Chris Lambton, who is known for HGTV’s Going Yard and The Bachelorette, took three families on a journey to find their dream RV. Charles and Marisa Dean noted, “The producers and staff do a great job making you feel at home, and Chris is a really down to earth guy on and off the camera. He made shopping really fun.”
The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association (PRVCA), which manages America’s Largest RV Show, has worked with HGTV and the production company for several years. “HGTV is always a pleasure to work with,” said Rebecca Lenington, executive vice president of PRVCA. “We look forward to seeing them every year and providing whatever information they need – though they are so familiar with our show and staff at this point, they seem more like extended family.”

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) is now working with producers of HGTV’s annual RV special, which has premiered on New Year’s Day for the past 13 years, for the 2014 edition of the program, which has been the cable networks highest rated special for the past several years.
According to the RVIA, filming will take place at America’s Largest RV Show in Hershey, Pa., show in early September. While RVIA cannot guarantee your product will be featured, RVIA would like to be sure producers are aware of the newest, most innovative and interesting products our industry is making.
HGTV will feature an episode titled “Celebrity Motor Homes” on June 8.
During the one-hour special, host Carter Oosterhouse visits the extravagant RVs of award-winning hip-hop producer Timbaland, country superstar Ronnie Dunn and X Factor judge Simon Cowell and reveals a look inside the private spaces where they relax and unwind on the road, according to a news release.

Billed as America’s largest RV Show, PRVCA reported record attendance at the 2011 event with a turnout of 36,410 people for the Retail Days alone. The event, held Sept. 12-18, saw a 4% increase in attendance from 2010 and set a new record for the history of the show. The show was over 1.3 million square feet and had over 1,050 new units on display – an increase of 6% compared to 2010. There were 165 booth vendors in attendance – a 15%increase over 2010; and manufacturer square footage increased by 5% compared to last year.

TV viewers watching ”RV 2011” on HGTV New Year’s day generally got glowing cable TV reviews of 20 motorhomes and towable RVs displayed last September at the Pennsylvania RV & Camping Show in Hershey, Pa.
Host Chi-Lan Lieu guided two families with children and a third couple through the maze of RVs at the Hershey Show on the grounds of Hersheypark.
Each family had different goals — the Herbst family was looking to upgrade while the Styles family sought their first RV, a high-end motorhome or towable and Lindsay and Chad Drvak were looking to accommodate rescued dogs.
Lieu, in turn, showed different RVs that she thought would meet their goals. Although none committed to buying an RV during the program, each chose one that they thought best suited their needs.
Among the units highlighted were Fleetwood RV Inc.’s high-end American Revolution and Tiffin Motor Home Inc.’s diminutive Allegro diesel pushers, Winnebago Industries Inc.’s Access minimotorhome, Prime Time Manufacturing’s Crusader fifth-wheel and Roadtrek Motorhomes Inc.’s SS Ideal van camper.
The Herbsts chose a Dynamax Dynaquest XV Class C motorhome; the Styles, a Dutchmen Voltage high-end sport utility fifth-wheel (SURV); and the Drvaks, an Earthbound travel trailer.
The hour-long program marks the 13th year that HGTV has highlighted new RV products, and will be rebroadcast at unspecified times during the year.
Producers of the program worked with the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and its agency, Barton Gilanelli, to put the program together.
Along with parades and college bowl games, RVs will be in the national spotlight on New Year’s Day.

Heartland Recreational Vehicle LLC’s retro-styled MPG ultra-lightweight travel trailer will be showcased as part of a one-hour TV special on HGTV filmed during last September’s Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show in Hershey, Pa.
The eco-friendly MPG, sporting aluminum-and-fiberglass construction and an aerodynamic teardrop design, caught the eye of host HGTV Chi-Lan Lieu who toured the annual consumer event searching for the hottest trends in today’s RV market, according to a news release.
The special is set to air Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. EST on the popular cable channel.
“One of the things that stands out with the MPG is its true teardrop shape,” said Ryan Wiese, sales representative for the Elkhart, Ind.-based builder. “It gives the trailer a very unique look and offers a lot more headroom than the competition because the rear end is rounded versus slanting down. But what really struck a note with HGTV is that we are bringing a full-featured, competitively priced laminated trailer to market that can be towed by most crossover vehicles and mini-vans.”
With a dry weight under 3,000 pounds, the aluminum-and-fiberglass MPG is available in eight 19-foot floorplans, six featuring a single slideroom and two offering a hybrid design with tent extensions. Originally targeted to attract a younger, more active buyer, Wiese said the demographic had broadened since the brand’s debut at the 2009 Louisville Show.
“Experienced RVers are seeing the MPG as a getaway or everyday unit to complement their larger trailer,” he said. “They also recognize the brand’s overall craftsmanship and styling. The MPG really has opened up a new market for our dealer body because its appeal has proven to be across-the-board.”
Equipped with a one-piece, seamless fiberglass roof, the MPG is available with an optional high-gloss, platinum fiberglass package that creates a distinctive, contemporary look enhanced by a choice of four colorful exterior graphics. Floorplans are designed to be versatile and maximize interior space with a spacious kitchen pantry and two models featuring fold-up bunk beds and a larger baggage door.
The MPG is also packaged with a host of standard amenities normally representative of higher-priced trailers such as A/C, microwave, two-burner cooktop and an AM/FM CD/DVD player equipped with an iPod connection and compatible with discs from digital cameras. Other key set-apart features include retro-style aluminum wheels, optional TV, 15-inch tires and rear bumper with a hitch receiver and built-in sewer hose storage.
“In just one year, the MPG has proven to be one of the hottest sellers in one of the hottest segments of the travel trailer market,” said Brian Linn, brand manager. “I think it was MPG’s striking design – a unique blend of contemporary and retro – that attracted HGTV for its upcoming special.
