Jeff Pastore of Hartville RV Center Inc., Hartville, Ohio, received the James B. Summers (JBS) Award during the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo for his long-time commitment and wide-ranging involvement in the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA).
Pastore has held every officer position within RVDA, including serving as chairman in 2007-2008, and he’s a contributor to and member of the RV Learning Center’s board of directors, according to a news release.
He’s also a member of the RVDA/RVIA RV Technician Certification Governing Board and has served as chairman of several committees, including the Convention/Expo and Audit and Finance Oversight committees.
“Jeff has done it all with enthusiasm and a great sense of humor, never compromising his principles or integrity,” reported RVDA President Mike Molino, who presented Pastore with the award during the convention’s annual meeting, Oct. 7 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The JBS Award, created in 1986, is named in honor of RVDA’s second chief staff officer, James B. Summers, who passed away on Oct. 3 on the eve of the trade association’s annual con/expo.
The award named in his honor is the highest award a member can receive for consistent and outstanding service to the association. The board of directors selects the winner each year by secret ballot from among nominations submitted by association members.
Marty Shea of Madison RV Center in Madison, Ala., received the James B. Summers (JBS) Award on Thursday (Oct. 8) during the RVDA Annual Meeting, held in conjunction with the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo featuring the RV Learning Center in Las Vegas, NV.
Shea is a past chairman of the RVDA board of directors, and during his tenure he used RVDA’s critical issues to open a dialog to promote better understanding among industry leaders, according to an RVDA release. He continues to work to better the industry as the co-chairman of the Go RVing Committee on Excellence.
“Marty’s broad experience and exceptional understanding has been evident since he started his volunteer leadership career with RVDA,” said RVDA President Mike Molino, who presented the award. “He worked tirelessly to improve everyone’s understanding of how the industry works and what each of us can do to make it better.”
The JBS Award recognizes individuals who make a consistent and outstanding contribution to the association and its members. RVDA’s board of directors selects the award recipient based on nominations made by the association’s membership.
