Venture RV, a division of KZRV LP, has opened a new production facility to keep up with product demand.
“We had an exceptional Open House with both the SportTrek lightweight travel trailer and the all new Sonic ultra-lightweight travel trailer,” Dave Boggs, director of sales and marketing, said in a press release. “The dealers liked what we had to offer and responded with orders. The manufacturing facility recently started production of Venture RV’s newest addition, the Sonic ultra-lightweight trailer. The opening of this facility will allow us to deliver the Sonic to our dealer base more efficiently and in a timely manner.”
The Sonic facility encompasses more than 65,000 square feet of manufacturing space, which includes an in-house sewing department. Boggs noted that the opening the facility helps the economic growth to the local economy. “As with KZRV, Venture is a big part of the surrounding communities,” he said.
He added, “It’s nice to see our team pull together and achieve the goal of opening this plant. Our departments take pride in producing a quality product that delivers exceptional craftsmanship and innovation.”
The Sonic is available in five floorplans that range from 17 to 25 feet in length and weigh between 2,995 and 4,500 pounds. The MSRP for the nicely equipped Sonic ultra-lightweight travel trailer has a starting MSRP of $18,999.
Venture RV will be displaying the Sonic at this year’s Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) National Rv Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., in Booth No. 3035 in the North Wing.
Shipshewana, Ind.-based towable builder KZRV LP has appointed Marlene Snyder as vice president, replacing Andy Baer who was named vice president of sales for Jayco Inc.
According to a press release, Snyder recently was product manager over all KZ product lines and has over 19 years of experience with KZRV.
“Marlene has proven to be a great leader and team builder and will help drive KZRV to even greater success in the marketplace,” said KZRV President Daryl Zook. “She brings excitement, experience, product and market knowledge not to mention her outstanding dealer relationships, which are exactly what we need to keep the momentum going after the fall show.”
In her new position, Snyder will lead KZRV in product planning, product development, sales and marketing.
Wausau, Wis.-based King’s Campers was recognized as one of KZRV LP’s top national dealers for 2013, according to a press release. The award was presented during this week’s Elkhart County RV Open House in northern Indiana.
“This honor shows the commitment King’s Campers has to providing our customers with high quality products that are backed with very reliable warranties,” said Ron Gajewski, general manager. “Our decision to maintain a partnership with a focused and dedicated company such as KZ has allowed us to provide continuous lines of products that meet our customer’s high demands for the RV lifestyle they enjoy so much. King’s Campers will not waiver from our dedication to our customers thus we have thoroughly enjoyed our long-standing partnership with KZRV.”
Sales Manager John Gajewski added, “KZ-RV continually searches for ways to improve floorplans and product features but maintains a close relationship with our employees to help us thoroughly know the products. KZRV LP’s new Spree Connect, a mid-sized lightweight laminated fiberglass travel trailer, will be introduced during next week’s Elkhart County RV Open House along with the Shipshewana, Ind.-based builder’s new Durango Gold Rush fifth-wheel.
“One of the unique features of the Connect is an aerodynamic profile compared to what we normally do,” said Andy Baer, KZRV vice president of sales and marketing, told RVBUSINESS.com. “Three years ago, people would automatically go to the big end of the segment, but now there is a concern about towability.”
Available in 11 floorplans in 22- to 32-foot lengths with up to three slideouts, Spree Connect MSRP’s range from $23,000 to $26,000.
“We are offering the Spree Connect with a very limited number of options for an all-inclusive price,” Baer reported.
In fact, only six options are available — aluminum wheels, a TV, A/C upgrade, table and chairs instead of a booth dinette, a deluxe sleeper sofa and spare tire.
“Most dealers are going to get three of those, and that’s about it,” Baer said.
With a tan sandalwood exterior, the Spree Connect is equipped with a 6 cubic foot, double door refrigerator, stereo with DVD player, heated and enclosed underbelly, and night shades.
The Connect joins two other models in the Spree lineup — the traditional Spree and the smaller Spree Escape. ”Part of what we are doing involved the recognition factor,” Baer said. “The focus here is to build on the Spree brand name, rather than come out with a name that has no foundation.”
The “Gold Rush by Durango,” being released in late August, is an upscale fifth-wheel aimed at a very specific and popular niche in the market right now, according to Dave Boggs, director of marketing and sales.
“The Gold Rush by Durango adds value to a fifth-wheel market that’s very competitive, and it comes with a wide-body floorplan design,” said Boggs. “It’s full profile line with value-added features for the discerning camper. The Gold Rush Durango is mid-range priced for a full profile unit that has all the standard features loaded into it.”
In other words, this is no entry-level, bare bones lineup. “No, it’s loaded up,” added Boggs. “It has your landing leveling gear, stainless steel appliances, solid surface countertops, two wood tone colors on the inside and standard theater seating.”
Shipshewana, Ind.-based KZRV LP has added the new Spree Connect lightweight travel trailer to its current product offerings, designed for easy towing by half-ton trucks and SUV’s.
According to a press release, the latest model in the company’s Spree line is available in 11 lightweight floorplans ranging in length from 22- to 35-feet and weighing 4,000 to 7,000 pounds. Starting MSRP is around $22,900 nicely appointed.
The aerodynamic lightweight travel trailers are equipped with many standard features that other RV manufacturers offer only as options, including
• Self-adjusting brakes.
• Pleated color night shades.
• 17-inch Chef range with three burners, hood and microwave.
• Tinted safety glass windows.
• Full champagne exterior.
• Heated enclosed underbelly.
• DVD/CD/MP3 player.
Product Manager Marlene Snyder noted, “We are excited to offer a product most families are able to afford and tow with the half-ton truck or SUV they drive on a daily basis. As one of KZRV’s flagship products, Spree has always brought unmatched value and functionality to our customers. Our ongoing collaboration with dealers has brought a whole new sense of style in the Spree Connect.”
The Spree Connect is covered by KZRV’s two-year limited warranty. Also included is a one-year free membership in Coach-Net that provides 24 hours, seven day a week roadside assistance throughout the United States and Canada.
Pikes Peak Traveland has partnered with KZRV LP to carry the Shipshewana, Ind.-based builder’s luxury Durango 500 and full-profile fifth-wheels along with the extended stay StoneRidge.
According to a press release, the partnership is “a natural fit for the two companies as both share the same old-fashioned family values and pride themselves on providing personalized, friendly service.”
Tim Biles, general manager of Colo.-based Pikes Peak Traveland, noted “Both Pikes Peak Traveland and KZ have a long history of running successful businesses that concentrate on providing quality products and putting customers’ needs ahead of profits.
“The deal with KZ allows us to increase our fifth-wheel presence in the Colorado Springs RV market and to be able to offer products with all the outstanding features that the Durango and StoneRidge bring.”
All three models are spacious with the largest version of the Durango 1500 coming in just under 35 feet and the top-of-the-line StoneRidge at over 42 feet in length. The full profile Durango has 10 floorplans while the StoneRidge offers nine.
KZRV LP has added an interesting bunk configuration to its double-door Spree lightweight travel trailer series. The Spree 29IK, one of three new Spree floorplans introduced for 2013, has an island kitchen and features a living room/double-bunk slideout with a pullout trundle bed beneath that provides three sleeping positions. A fourth bunk is positioned over the rear entertainment center. The front-bedroom 29IK, with radius cabinets and two large pantries, is among 16 floorplans running 24 to 36 feet in the fiberglass-and-aluminum Spree series from the Shipshewana, Ind., builder. Also for 2013, KZRV is offering an eye-catching ”Sandlewood Edition” with ”champagne-colored” sidewalls trimmed with black accents and an aerodynamic front cap with a $23,900 base MSRP.
Venture RV, founded in mid-July, has augmented its lightweight SportTrek travel trailer line with the addition of a 35-foot 6-inch triple-slide floorplan. With limited options, the Venture line features eight 26 to 35-foot 6-inch floorplans, including the SportTrek 320VIK that the company took less than three months to develop after dealers at the Elkhart Open House in September suggested they wanted Venture to create a larger coach with more living space. ”We are reacting to what our dealers were asking for and it shows that we can react to the market fairly quickly,” said Dave Boggs, director of marketing and sales for the Shipshewana, Ind.-based KZRV LP subsidiary. The 320VIK floorplan, with a dry weight of 7,200 pounds, features an island kitchen and opposing living room and kitchen slideouts. ”The island kitchen opens up the kitchen area where people can hang out along with the living area,” said Boggs, adding that MSRPs range from $22,000 to $31,000.
Shipshewana, Ind.-based Venture RV, an Indiana-based manufacturer of lightweight travel trailers, will be displaying its new SportTrek line at the National RV Trade Show, Nov. 27-29 in Louisville, Ky.
“The dealer reaction to the product has been phenomenal,” Dave Boggs, director of marketing and sales for the KZRV LP subsidiary, said in a press release. “Dealers in both the U.S. and Canada have already seen success with retail sales in just days after the product has landed. We will be introducing our eighth floorplan to the dealer base at this year’s RVIA show in Booth 1120 in the South Wing.”
The new 320VIK floorplan is an island kitchen model that comes with three sliderooms, 82-inch sofa, junior dinette, in/out pass-through bathroom and Campfire Café outdoor kitchen. The SportTrek line offers lengths ranging from 26- to 35-feet and are equipped with an enclosed underbelly and champagne colored front and back wall. The trailer can be towed by today’s small crossovers, SUVs and light duty trucks.

For the ninth straight month, RV shipments were up, posting a 12.7% gain in September. And, according to a report in the South Bend (Ind.) Tribune, that’s good news for RV workers in Elkhart County.
Terry Slabach, CFO of KZRV LP in Shipshewana, noted, “I think we feel like slow, steady growth is better than really quick, accelerated growth. And that’s what we have seen. We’re happy with where we’re at this year.”
The RV industry, including RV manufacturers and suppliers, employs more than 24,000 people in Elkhart County. Northern Indiana builds 82% of all recreational vehicles in the United States, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Both Slabach and Matt Bunner, vice president of operations for Robert Weed Plywood, an RV supplier, like the way 2013 looks, too.
“We see a fairly stable level of growth for this year into next year,” Bunner said. “About the same level, maybe a little bit higher for next year. Our customers are confident in the next year also. Unless something happens of a world-impact nature, we believe it’s going to be a good, solid year.”
Andy Baer, vice president of sales and marketing at KZRV, and Slabach do have some concerns with 2013, though.
“There are concerns out there with regard to the fiscal cliff … maybe less concern on the actual election process but what happens after the election process, and that affects the consumer psyche,” said Baer. “We’ve been fortunate as an industry. The consumer’s been extremely resilient and still showing an interest in RVing of any description.”
Shipshewana, Ind.-based Venture RV, a division of KZRV LP founded in July, will be displaying its new lightweight SportTrek travel trailer during next week’s Elkhart County RV Open House.

The display will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. In addition, there will be product set up inside the Venture facility in Shipshewana.
“We will have eight units in Elkhart, including our newest floorplan innovation – a two bedroom unit with a queen- and king-size bed,” said Dave Boggs, director of marketing and sales for Venture RV. “It’s actually a versatile model and one of the bedrooms can be configured several ways to meet the consumer’s needs. This floorplan is less than 35-feet long and has several unique features. I’m sure it will be a big hit at the show.”
Boggs added, “It’s been a lot of fun creating the SportTrek. The Venture team has taken the stance on making good floorplans even better by adding user-friendly features to make camping even more enjoyable. Dealer reaction to the product has been phenomenal and has exceeded our expectations. Dealers in both U.S. and Canada have already seen success with retail sales in just a couple of days after the product has landed.”
The SportTrek travel trailer is available in seven floorplans ranging in lengths from 26 to 34 feet. It is equipped with up to two slideouts, enclosed underbelly and champagne-colored front and back wall. The affordable lightweight travel trailer can also be towed by today’s small crossovers, SUVs and light-duty trucks.
