Augusta to Debut Luxe Fiver At FRVTA ’14 Show

Augusta RV Co., Bristol, Ind., will unveil its new high-end Luxe fifth-wheel at the Annual Florida RV SuperShow in January, 2014, according to a press release.

The Luxe has been in development for a year and a half and Augusta introduced a prototype at September’s Elkhart County RV Open House that was well received by dealers. The prototype was developed to “test an idea, test a new styling direction, and explore advanced towable technologies,” the company said.

For the Luxe concept design, Augusta took the consumer’s wants and needs into consideration. “Our team researched and compiled data to find out what consumers desired in a luxurious towable,”  said Josh Bowerman, national sales manager for the Luxe. ”We explored high-end residential housing, condos and apartments for innovative ideas we could incorporate into the Luxe. Our team is combining a high-end residential look with cutting-edge technology to create a product at the forefront of the luxurious fifth-wheel market.”

Bowerman reported that the Luxe prototype was purchased by Iowa-based Fedders RV during the Open House. “This was extremely exciting for us,” he said. “We knew we had a product that was different and revolutionary for the luxurious fifth wheel market. From the success of the prototype we could have started mass producing the Luxe, but we wanted to take it a step further. We took both dealer and consumer suggestions from the Elkhart Open House and added new features and designs. We’re proud to announce, that in 2014 we will be offering a luxurious fifth-wheel that is more innovative and advanced than anything on the market.”

“We will introduce one floorplan in the initial stage (at the Florida RV SuperShow), but plan to have three to six different floorplans by the end of 2014. Here at Augusta RV we set out to achieve the impossible and to make innovative design and technology our signature. We have succeeded in doing so by designing the Luxe.”

Lifestyle Luxury RV Sees Gains in Fiver Market

In the year-and-a-half since EverGreen Recreational Vehicles LLC launched its Lifestyle Luxury RV division, the high-end fifth-wheel builder has continued to grow sales and market share.

According to a report by the Elkhart Truth, more than 40% of the units have sold, it’s received recognition from RV trade publications and, following the demise of Carriage RV, the National Carriage Travel Club switched allegiance to Lifestyle.

“These are phenomenal total retail numbers for the sale of a single branded product from just 18 months of its launch,” said Dymon Farrer, general manager of Lifestyle Luxury RV, in a press release.

Last December, Lifestyle was recognized at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) trade show in Louisville, Ky., with awards from industry publications RV Business and RV Pro. That recognition led to a growing dealership network, according to the company.

La Mesa RV, with a dozen dealerships in four states, reported great success with the brand.

“Lifestyle is doing well,” said Jason Kimbrell, head of towable sales for LaMesa. “Certain categories have exceeded expectations. I don’t think anyone thought there was the market for high-end fifth-wheels like the Lifestyle.”

Lifestyle Luxury RV Reports Strong Retail Sales

High-end fifth-wheel builder Lifestyle Luxury RV, a division of EverGreen Recreational Vehicles LLC, announced that based on consumer vehicle registrations of fifth-wheels sold at dealerships coast-to-coast, over 40% of the company’s units have been sold since the brand was founded in February of 2012.

“These are phenomenal total retail numbers for the sale of a single-branded product from just 18 months of its launch,” said Dymon Farrer, general manager of the Middlebury, Ind.-based builder, in a press release. “In my previous life as a full-time sales representative, I was happy to have a brand retail 15% to 20% off sales lots in one year. We are extremely pleased with the consumer response to the Lifestyle Luxury RV fifth-wheels and so are our dealers.”

Lifestyle said that its lineup gained early recognigion at last year’s Louisville Show, included among RVBusiness Magazine’s Top RV Debuts for 2013 and RV Pro Magazine’s Best of Show for 2013. Since that time, the company has steadily grown its dealer base across the country.

Bucky Moree, president of the National Carriage Travel Club, recently stated his groups’ dedication to the legacy Lifestyle Luxury RV brand.

“The members of the Carriage Travel Club are enthusiastic about the upcoming one year anniversary of our affiliation with Lifestyle Luxury RV,” he said. “This relationship has greatly benefited both the travel club and Lifestyle Luxury RV. Our members are very appreciative of Lifestyle’s commitment to quality and design.

“A number of our members have purchased new Lifestyle fifth-wheels to replace their older model Carriage trailers and are extremely happy with the quality Lifestyle builds into each of their luxury units. We, as potential new customers, are excited to learn Lifestyle is continuing to improve their floorplans and launch new products in the near future.”

Family owned La Mesa RV, with 12 dealerships nationwide in the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona and Florida, is having great success selling Lifestyle’s fifth-wheels.

“The Lifestyle brand is doing well,” said Jason Kimbrell, head of towable sales. “Certain categories have exceeded expectations. I don’t think anyone thought there was the market for high-end fifth-wheels like the Lifestyle.”

He added, “It’s just a really well-built product. Lifestyle offers some unique features that no one else in the industry has. The fact that Lifestyle manufacturers its own Titan chassis is key. This allows them to build full-wall slides, use Big Foot jacks, and include pass through storage in the rear of the unit-all uniquely designed by Lifestyle.”

Kimbrell spoke to the type of consumer purchasing Lifestyle. “This is definitely a niche product,” he said. “It’s almost exclusively retirees. And a very large percentage of these buyers are full-timers. They are living out of the Lifestyle 12 months out of the year or using it as primary vacation home. And they just don’t park them, they travel.

“We’ve been real happy with the product and the folks at EverGreen that build the Lifestyle. It’s a great company. They build a great product, they stand behind what they build. We are thrilled and honored to have the relationship we have with EverGreen.”

DRV Sees Gains in May; Launches New Website

Luxury fifth-wheel builder DRV Luxury Suites continues to see strong sales in 2013, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.’s May towable report.

Sales of DRV’s Mobile Suites, Mobile Suites Estates, Elite Suites and Tradition full-time fifth-wheel brands were up 65% over 2012 year-to-date, the Howe, Ind.-based company reported. Additionally, sales for May increased 65%.

“We’re very proud of the product changes we’ve introduced over the past 10 months and are very pleased to see the marketplace accept them as strongly as it has,” said DRV Product Manager Rocky Holman in a press release.

DRV also announced the launch of a new, revamped website. “Our new website is more focused on helping our customers find exactly what they’re looking for in as few steps as possible, while bringing a fresh, vibrant look and style that we were missing in the past,” Holman said.  ”It’s also more user friendly for dealers and sales people as a resource to help close deals.”

Luxury fifth-wheel builder DRV Luxury Suites reported continued year-over-year growth through the first four months as the company’s Mobile Suites, Mobile Suites Estates, Elite Suites and Tradition lines were up 62% in unit sales, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.

“In February we were really excited to be up 44% from last year, which is huge for an established manufacturer like us,” said Rocky Holman, product manager for the Howe, Ind.-based company, in a press release. ”So to have jacked that up even higher to 62% through April is absolutely incredible.”

The company said that sales through April were well above every year since the recession, and the numbers have brought new dealers into the DRV network.  “The best sales pitch in the world doesn’t mean anything if a product doesn’t sell, so being able to relate real, legitimate sales numbers to prospective dealers has been invaluable,” stated Holman.

DRV credits its loyal buyers and committed dealers for its continued growth.   “We can’t thank our customers and dealers enough and we’ll continue to strive to give them the best ‘True Residential’ fifth-wheels on the market,” added Holman.

DRV Owners Give ’14 Line Thumbs Up at Rally

Howe, Ind.-based DRV Luxury Suites reported a strong turnout for its Suites Owners International Travel Club last week as over 130 rigs gathered at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds.

According to a press release, National Sales Manager Kyle Miller was excited with the results from the rally and felt the morale of the company’s customer base is higher than ever.

“We are so grateful of our customers and their loyalty to our product and our company,” Miller said. “We had over 130 rigs attend, which makes this year’s rally the largest to date. We listen to our customers and do our best to support them. Our customers are the best tool we can use to help us continue to improve upon our product. They use them every day and know what they need and where they need it.”

Elkhart-based Tiara RV Sales partnered with DRV in hosting the rally, providing a large product display that allowed owners to view the newest models and features in DRV’s 2014 product lines.

“Tiara RV really supported our customers this week, and they went over and above to make this week successful,” stated Miller. “The timing of this event was perfect for DRV. We had a whole week with our customers, listening to their feedback, getting ideas and seeing what things we might be missing for our full-time customers.”

He added, “With the September Open House coming up our dealers will be excited when they see what we have done to take our product to the next level – and we have our customers to thank for these ideas.”

Peterson Set to Unveil ‘Game Changer’ Today

Smith Center, Kan.-based Peterson Industries Inc., manufacturer of the Excel luxury fifth-wheel brand, will be hosting the unveiling of a “game-changing” industry-first product during a live feed over the Internet today (May 31) at 2:45 ET.

DRV Sees Spike in Luxury Fiver Sales for 2013

Fifth-wheel builder DRV Luxury Suites reported strong retail sales and growing market share in early 2013, according to a press release.

The high-line builder of the Mobile Suites, Mobile Suites Estates, Elite Suites and Tradition brands posted its best January and February retail sales since the Great Recession, according to retail registrations as compiled by Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Statistical Surveys Inc.

“We’re ecstatic about the reception we’re getting in the marketplace right now,” said DRV Product Manager Rocky Holman. “The new styles and features we began implementing late last summer are being really well received by retail customers and we’re seeing that in increased retail registration and orders.”

Through February, Statistical Surveys showed DRV up 44% in retail sales and 26% in overall market share compared to 2012.

Holman attributed the success to the Howe, Ind.-based company’s use of true residential standard features like Whirlpool residential refrigerators, GE convection microwaves, dishwashers, garbage disposals, solid surface and quartz countertops, and two-tone decors. Other standard amenities include Lane furniture, Shaw flooring, soft-close drawers, ceramic tile and stone backsplashes, more floorplans with full size showers, 3 1/4-inch thick sidewalls, high density wool insulation, water manifold and four season insulation.

In the four seasons, luxury fifth-wheel category with units retailing for $85,000 and above, DRV reported it held a market share of over 70%, according to Statistical Surveys.

Holman reports that while DRV is proud of the growth they’ve seen in sales and the firm’s ability to bring to market products desired and appreciated by consumers, DRV is not taking any time off to celebrate.

“We’re already hard at work to continue and add to the improvements we started last summer,” he said. “We’re expecting to knock a lot of people’s socks off come Open House.”

Grand Design Announcing New Jobs Thursday

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will join executives from Grand Design RV Thursday (April 18) at the company’s manufacturing complex in Middlebury, Ind., for 2 p.m. announcement regarding hundreds of new jobs.

The South Bend Tribune reported that the startup towable builder, which has been in business for about four months, celebrated both the hiring of its 100th employee and the making of its 100th RV on March 19. At that celebration, company officials said another line would be added in the near future which would mean more jobs.

The company currently builds the Solitude, an extended-stay, luxury fifth-wheel trailer. Grand Design officials also have said they envision the company eventually reaching 500 employees.
