Foretravel Inc., a 42-year manufacturer of luxury motorcoaches, has named Gregory L. Amys as its new president and CEO.
The announcement came following the company’s regularly scheduled quarterly board meeting on Thursday (April 16). Amys succeeds Lyle D. Reed, who will stay on as as chairman and will focus on strategic issues and business development opportunities, according to a news release.
Amys, has been senior vice president and COO of the Nacogdoches, Texas-based company since Feb. 15, 2005, when an investor group acquired the company from the Fore family.
Amys completed a career in the railroad industry, where he first met Reed, and retired in 1996.
He held various supervisory and operating management positions with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and was vice president and COO for the Chicago Central & Pacific Railroad, a 1,000-mile regional railroad operating in the upper Midwest, at the time of his retirement. He and his wife, Sue, have resided in Lufkin, Texas, since 2006.
Foretravel is making plans for the future and preparing for the anticipated recovery of both the motorcoach market and general economy, the statement said.
