Magellan announced the launch of its new 7-inch RV GPS, the Magellan RoadMate RV9490T-LMB, that offers real-time cloud-connected information to RVers. According to a press release, the model provides Magellan’s safety, convenience and trip-planning features as well as additional RV-friendly functions.

“Magellan’s ongoing innovation reflects our commitment to the RV community, who want more on-the-road information and a more enjoyable RVing journey,” said Stig Pedersen, associate vice president of product management for Magellan. “The RV9490T-LMB features customizable routes per your RV profile, pre-loaded RV specific points of interest (POI) such as the Good Sam Campground Directory, RV dump stations, real-time weather information and alerts, the cheapest fuel locations, plus premium safety features that optimize the RVing experience.”

The Magellan RoadMate RV9490T-LMB features a high sensitivity touch panel, a brighter and clearer screen, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. This allows for the real-time display of weather and fuel price information and gives users the freedom to choose how they connect, when they connect and what they want to download.

Users receive current location-based information on their RoadMate navigator by connecting to either a Wi-Fi hotspot to pre-load information before they leave home or on the road via smartphone Bluetooth connection when no WiFi connection is available.

The Magellan RoadMate RV9490T-LMB will be available in the second quarter through Magellan’s consumer electronics and online partners including Camping World and for $349.99 (MSRP).

Magellan is set to introduce a new device to its line of GPS navigation products specifically designed for RVers.

According to a press release, the RoadMate RV9145 navigator features an extra-large high-resolution 7-inch display and customized routing based on a vehicle’s profile and driver preference. It comes pre-loaded with the Magellan exclusive Good Sam Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Directory; maps of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico; and, over six million points of interest.

The unit also utilizes Magellan’s exclusive partnership with Good Sam Club, the world’s largest RV owner’s organization. The Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Directory, a must for RVers, includes their Triple-Rating System on more than 11,700 private campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. Users can easily find sites that have Wi-Fi and Internet access, accommodate big-rigs, are pet-friendly, give Good Sam Club discounts, and other information important to RVers.

Magellan said the high-resolution screen makes map viewing easier, especially in a low-lit driver’s area of an RV. It also offers settings and adjusts routes based on a vehicle’s height, width, length and weight. Or, the customizable route feature picks the suitable route based on driver preference, e.g., shortest distance, fastest time, using freeways, or not using freeways. Its multi-destination routing capability allows a user to plan an entire trip in one route.

Magellan’s exclusive OneTouch user interface lets users personalize their experience with instant access to favorite destinations and searches. External devices, such as a back-up camera, DVD player, or an iPod, can be easily utilized through the convenient A/V input.

Recreational vehicle enthusiasts preparing to hit the highways this summer will appreciate the special features built into the Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165T GPS navigation device, a portable unit designed especially for RVers, according to a news release.
