MCD Innovations’ GOLD Series Day/Night Shade System enjoyed strong sales during the recently completed Good Sam Rally in Louisville, Ky., according to a press release.
“Everyone was excited to try out the new shades,” said Peggy Grich, a spokeswoman for the McKinney, Texas-based company. “We talked to hundreds of people, and they really liked the new innovations in the shades. We were delighted to be able to show RVers a way to gain solar and heat protection while still maintaining privacy. The easy operation was another plus for all the customers we spoke with.”
According to MCD, the GOLD Series is a new line that offers the same quality as its popular American Duo Day/Night Shade System, but at a lower cost. Its advanced window shade technology provides solar protection with Clearview Day Screens and privacy through its 100% light-blocking four-ply vinyl night shade fabrics.
Grich said that one of the popular features of the GOLD Series is the ability to raise the shades with a slight pull-to-release motion, eliminating broken strings.
“Now everyone in the RVing world can enjoy the same great benefits of MCD American Duo Shades, regardless of what kind of camping vehicle they own,” said Senior RV Market Manager Travis Townsley. “We listened to our customers and developed a product line that offers the same excellent quality that MCD is known for, and made it more affordable.”

McKinney, Texas-based MCD Innovations announced the introduction of the MCD SwayShade for aftermarket installations.
According to a press release, the patent-pending design provides complete coverage of cockpit windows that are considerably wider at the bottom than at the top due to the more aerodynamic shape many coach manufacturers are producing.
The MCD SwayShade is able to not only travel down, but also sideways at the same time providing coverage needed for the lower forward corner of the window on these sleek designed motorhomes.
The shade is produced in multiple configurations and sizes to provide the exact amount of “forward movement” needed for a particular coach model so as to completely cover the window providing full privacy and sun protection. The “forward movement” can run from 1 inch to 9 inches, depending upon the particular configuration.
MCD began offering the SwayShade to several OEM manufacturers including Winnebago, Newmar, and Monaco for certain 2011 models. Since then, more OEMs have begun offering the MCD SwayShade as a standard feature on an increasing number of models.
The SwayShade will be available to the aftermarket as of May 1 in a number of standardized sizes to fit most applications in both manually-operated and powered day/night shade versions.
