Larry Troutt, chairman of the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA), honored Mike Ferkey and Rick Horsey on Thursday (Oct. 8) for their service to RV dealers with RVDA Chairman’s Service Awards. The presentation came during RVDA’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.
The award recognizes people who have made a significant contribution to RVDA over an extended period of time.
Receiving the 2009 Chairman’s Service Awards are:
- Mick Ferkey, Greeneway, Inc., Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. Ferkey serves on the RVDA board of directors and was a long-time Wisconsin delegate. For the past two years, he has chaired the RVDA Marketing Task Force that works to make RVDA and RV Learning Center programs more affordable for dealers and their employees. “Mick showed his dedication to and belief in the RV dealer’s convention by donating $5,000 to create scholarships for people to attend this year’s convention,” said Troutt. “He is not only active on the national level, but also in his home state when legislative matters that impact RV dealers surface in the state legislature.”
- Rick Horsey, Parkview RV Center, Smyrna, Del. Horsey has a record of accomplishment with RVDA that only a few others can match. After serving as chairman of the RVDA board of directors, he took on the challenge of being chairman of the RVDA Education Foundation in 1999. “During his tenure, Rick and the Foundation Board provided the leadership for an unprecedented fundraising effort that led to the rebranding of the foundation into the RV Learning Center – and began a systematic review of education programs for RV dealership employees,” Troutt said. Rick has also worked on his own continuing education in business management and strategic planning.”
