Despite a threatening weather forecast – including a tornado warning – attendance was up by 10% and sales increased 15% at last week’s Montgomery RV Show in Alabama, according to a press release. The event ran March 2-4 at the Renaissance Convention Center.
Organizers said that despite the inclement weather, attendees were drawn to the show by advertising touting “very aggressive pricing” on a wide range of the newest 2012 models.
Surprisingly, people came from farther distances to this year’s show, including Mobile, Birmingham, Dothan, Auburn, Columbus, Ga., and Panama City, Fla.
For the second year in a row, all marketing, advertising, promotion and public relations for the RV Show were handled by D.P. Ball Advertising.
An Alabama RV dealers group recently contracted DP Ball Advertising services to promote its RV show: The Montgomery RV Show. The show took place March 25-27 at the Renaissance Convention Center in Montgomery.
All marketing, advertising, promotion and public relations for the RV show were handled by D.P. Ball, enabling the dealers to dispense with the services of a show promoter and allowing them to realize considerable savings, according to a news release.
“We were able to go direct and rent the Renaissance Convention Center ourselves,” said Marlin Ingram, owner of Marlin Ingram RV in Montgomery, one of the show’s organizers. “That, plus the heavily discounted advertising rate offered us by Dan Ball Advertising, helped all the dealers that participated save thousands of dollars,” he said.
According to Ingram, by eliminating the show promoter, each dealer paid 45% less for all expenses. “We’ve experienced the effective results DP Ball Advertising has delivered over the past 12 years for a variety of RV sales and shows that we hosted as an individual dealer,” he added. “So we felt confident that DP Ball would execute and deliver the same results for the Montgomery RV Show, and they did.”
Ingram, who has had a major RV dealership at the same Montgomery location for 27 years, recently opened a second sales location near Wetumpka, Ala.
Dan Ball arranged for a number of major network TV stations to be on site to host live interviews during this past weekend’s show, said Ingram, as well as several newspapers. “We’re looking forward to host another successful show in 2012 and wouldn’t consider using any other agency but D.P. Ball Advertising to handle the show’s marketing.”
