NASCAR Truck Series driver Mike Skinner will barrel up to Motor Home Specialist’s RV dealership in Alvarado, Texas, on June 4 to greet fans and sign autographs prior to the big race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Skinner currently drives the No. 5 truck with Navistar International and Monaco RV as his sponsor.
“He’ll make a good showing for their company,” said Tyler O’Banion, account and inventory manager at Motor Home Specialist, in a news release. “Monaco and Navistar are outstanding names in the RV industry, and it’s great that they’re promoting their brand by aligning themselves with someone like Mike Skinner.”
Skinner made his NASCAR debut in the Winston Cup Series in 1986, was the 1995 Craftsman Truck Series Champion and 1997 Rookie of the Year and has chalked up dozens of wins throughout the years in Sprint cars and Tractors.
It’s impossible to visit Texas Motor Speedway (or ANY motor speedway nationwide) without seeing the sea of motorhomes that transform the race track grounds into a temporary village of fun-loving NASCAR fans. While NASCAR enthusiasts are enjoying their visit with Skinner at the 22-acre luxury RV mall in Alvarado between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on June 4, visitors are invited to tour over 220 new and pre-owned Class A, Class B, Class C motorhomes on display.
Motor Home Specialist is the top-selling RV dealership in Texas and in the nation’s Top 10 for volume RV sales.
Sources confirmed to SPEEDtv.com that Camping World intends to remain as the title sponsor of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Published reports said NASCAR was shopping for a replacement Truck Series sponsor for Camping World, which is in the first year of a multi-year agreement with the sanctioning body.
But a spokesperson for the retailer said the company is actually helping locate a replacement sponsor for the Camping World East and West Series. Camping World previously had announced that 2009 would be its last year as title sponsor for the East and West Series.
“We have no intention at this point of trying to pull out of the Truck Series,” said Diana Ardelean of Camping World. “We’re very excited and fully in support of the Truck Series.”
