NTP Dealer Convention Sees Record Attendance

February 24, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Attendance at NTP Distribution Inc.’s 2012 National Dealer Conference was the largest the industry distributor has seen in its 30-plus years of shows, more than doubling in size from just two years ago, according to a press release.

The show, which marked the Wilsonville, Ore.-based company’s 50th year of operation, ran February 21-23 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Greg Boyd, president of NTP, attributed the dramatic attendance increase to several factors beyond the excitement over the company’s milestone and its recent acquisition by Keystone Automotive Operations Inc.

“A lot of factors outside of it being our 50th have combined to make this an incredibly successful event,” he said. “Of course, everyone’s excited about our recent partnership with Keystone, but there’s a lot of interest in the new product lines we’re offering. I also think we’re starting to see dealer confidence rise as the economy starts to level out.”

The three-day event began with a full day of vendor workshops and product training seminars along with a cocktail reception to preview the show floor. The next day the company celebrated their 50th anniversary with dinner and entertainment on-board the USS Midway. The final day of show activity included lunch with an address by Boyd.

NTP launched several new initiatives including Home & Road, the company’s first private label mattress offering, a truck accessories program designed to help RV dealers expand their product mix, and several new marketing initiatives, including an exclusive on-demand marketing portal.

Ed Orzetti, CEO of Keystone Automotive Operations, called the conference a huge success, echoing the feedback from both vendors and dealers alike.

“This has been my first opportunity to attend an NTP show,” Orzetti said. “Not only was the venue phenomenal, the energy in the room was contagious. NTP puts on a first-rate conference.”

NTP will return to San Diego for their 2013 show. For more information about NTP Distribution, visit www.ntpdistribution.com.

NTP Distribution Handling Gree Air Conditioners

December 2, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

NTP Distribution Inc., in partnership with Keystone Automotive Operations Inc., announced the addition of Gree air conditioners to its product mix.

According to a press release, the launch marks the first aftermarket air conditioner offering for the company since the exit of Carrier from the market.

“We’ve partnered with Gree because they are the largest producer of air conditioners on the planet,” said Greg Boyd, president of Wilsonville, Ore.-based NTP. “They are not an electronics company who decided to cross over into air conditioning. They are air conditioning professionals who bring their expertise to the industry.”

NTP anticipates inventory being available in the first quarter of 2012.

“Far beyond being an ‘off the shelf’ air conditioner” adds Raymond Padgett, Category Manager for Keystone, “Gree has an organization that that designs, test and produces air conditioners. With three R&D organizations, 4,500 engineers and 300 laboratories, it is easy to see why they have produced over 3,000 technical patents. Gree is not a duplicator, they are truly an innovator.”

NTP to Debut Pennsylvania Distribution Center

November 9, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Wilsonville, Ore.-based NTP Distribution Inc. announced that it will begin servicing customers in the Northeast with a new distribution center in Exeter, Pa., before the end of this year, according to a press release.

The company said the move represents “the latest indication of the benefits customers will gain from NTP’s integration with Keystone Automotive Operations,” giving customers access to a complete selection of inventory housed in Keystone’s 800,000 square-foot warehouse in Pennsylvania. The new distribution center will round out a national presence for NTP in all regions of the country.

In addition to utilizing the current Pennsylvania warehouse, NTP said it will also “leverage Keystone’s fulfillment and logistics capabilities.” Upon opening of operations in Pennsylvania, NTP’s Northeast customers will enjoy the broadest product offering, improved cutoff times for ordering and next day delivery on Keystone’s dedicated fleet trucks.

“NTP’s expansion into the Northeast is a significant step in our overall strategy,” said Keystone Automotive Operations CEO Ed Orzetti. “Leveraging our combined strengths positions NTP to become the national leader in RV aftermarket parts and accessories distribution.”

In recent years, NTP has been focused on expanding their operations into a national presence, most recently adding a facility in Austell, Ga., in 2010. According to Greg Boyd, president of NTP, expansion into the Northeast has long been a part of NTP’s roadmap.

“The Northeast is a crucial market for NTP and one we’ve been planning to enter holistically for a long time,” said Boyd. “One of the most exciting things about our partnership with Keystone is our ability to grow much quicker than we would have otherwise been able to.”

NTP to Mark 50th Anniversary at Dealer Confab

November 2, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

When NTP Distribution was founded in 1961 to provide parts and accessories to RV dealers in the Pacific Northwest, the company employed five people — who delivered parts in an old station wagon. Five decades later, the Wilsonville, Ore.-based company employs more than 200, and deliveries are made using a fleet of trucks dispatched from five distribution centers throughout the U.S.

But while a lot has changed, the company still adheres to its commitment to building long-lasting relationships with its dealers and vendors — and will be celebrating both at its Legendary 50th Anniversary and Dealer Conference, Feb. 20-24 at the convention center in San Diego.

“Response to the conference from our dealers and vendors has been phenomenal,” said Marni Drew, marketing manager for NTP. “We’re still in the planning stage, and are excited to have Keystone Automotive at our show. We expect it to be our biggest show yet — in fact, we anticipate having to turn people away.”

According to Drew, the reason for the increased enthusiasm for this show is twofold.

“We saw a ton of interest initially as people realized it was our 50th anniversary conference, but now we’re seeing a lot of excitement being generated by our recent partnership with Keystone.”

NTP Distribution announced it was being acquired by Keystone Autmotive Operations Inc. on Oct. 20. Under the agreement, Keystone intends to roll its current RV division into NTP, which will then assume the distribution of RV parts and accessories for both NTP and Keystone customers. According to a release, Keystone will be the parent company, with Ed Orzetti, president and CEO at Keystone, at the helm of the combined organization and Greg Boyd continuing as president of NTP. NTP Distribution’s senior management team also remained unchanged.

“The only changes have been positive,” Drew said of the acquisition. “We recently rolled out next-day fleet service in Arizona, and eventually plan similar rollouts across the country. The partnership allows us to enhance our customer service to an even greater degree.”

The 2012 conference starts each day’s activities with a breakfast at the convention center, followed by vendor workshops and the parts and accessories show. Motivational sales and training speaker Garrison Wynn delivers the keynote address Tuesday, and the conference includes a 50th Anniversary Lunch and Dealer Awards on Thursday.

As part of the celebration, NTP will be hosting a dinner Wednesday night aboard the legendary USS Midway, an aircraft carrier that served its country in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.
