According to a press release, Campers Direct America, located in Cedar Creek, Texas, offers “great customer service and loves to provide customers with high quality products.” The dealership is a full-service facility providing sales, parts, service and financing.

Tillett reported that Campers Direct America is also building a new website at www.campersdirectamerica.com.
Peterson Industries Inc. has introduced its third 31-foot Excel Winslow fifth-wheel floorplan with a design focus on an extra-large bathroom and a true island kitchen. “The strength of the Winslow line is in the 31-foot range,” said Bryan Tillett, president of the Smith Center, Kan., towable manufacturer. ”A lot of our buyers are getting older in years, but they still want to full-time or at least be winter snowbirds. They can have a 31-footer that has almost everything that they had in their bigger coach.” The all-season gel coat fiberglass-and-wood Excel Winslow series offers 12 fifth-wheel and three travel trailer floorplans in 28- to 37-foot lengths. With a $67,130 base MSRP, the triple-slide Winslow D311KE layout has a 32-inch-by-48-inch walk-in shower with a seat and dual kitchen sinks in an island that sits opposite a three-burner range. Features in the Winslow D311KE include heated storage with 1 1/2-inch thick compartment doors, frameless thermopane windows, a bedroom washer/dryer closet, solid surface countertops, custom moldings, 42-inch LCD TV, an etched-glass showcase, swivel rocker-recliners and a hide-a-bed.
Smith, Kan.-based Peterson Industries Inc. said it has increased production of its line of luxury towables “in response to the news of Carriage Inc. closing and an influx of calls from Carriage dealers.”
According to a press release, Peterson is also offering “attractive Excel dealer packages,” and accepting a limited number of new dealers in select locations.
Bryan Tillett, President of Peterson Industries, reports that Excel RVs continue to attract buyers to dealer lots across the country. “We’ve survived this economy for a reason,” he said. “Our company is built on excellent value, outstanding construction, luxurious amenities, solid warranties, and sound money management. Excel owners are very loyal to our brand; further evidence that we meet and exceed customer expectations.”
Peterson Industries will showcase their line at the 49th National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., running Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
The Excel booth No. 5301 in the West Wing of the Expo Center will include:
• The top-of-the-line 2012 Limited, which is priced comparably to the Carriage Carri-Lite, and provides the ultimate in luxury and amenities.
• The 2012 Winslow fifth-wheel, priced comparably to the Carriage Cameo, sets the traveler up in affordable luxury, and is available in eight floorplans.
• The 2012 Winslow travel trailer provides 100 cubic feet of basement storage without sacrificing living space or luxury.
With the introduction of an online MSRP calculator and QR codes, Peterson Industries Inc. is making it even easier for customers to get information and pricing on the latest Excel fifth-wheels and travel trailers, according to a news release.
“Having these new tools is essential to accommodate the fast-paced lifestyle of our customers,” said Bryan Tillett, president of the Smith Center, Kan.-based RV manufacturer. “Whether they are on the road, at home or at work, we want to make it as convenient as possible for them to get the information they need to make a sound decision on their RV purchase.”
RVers can go to ExcelRVs.com to choose a floorplan and personalize it with their desired options. They will then receive the MSRP in an easy-to-print format, along with a listing of their closest dealer.
For those looking at trailers on a dealer’s lot, they can find out the MSRP and list of options included on each coach by simply using their smart phone to read the QR code. To scan the codes, which are located near the entrance door of each trailer, individuals must have a smart phone with a QR Code-reading application. For a free mobile app, go to http://gettag.mobi.
“It’s exciting to provide new ways for people to shop RVs,” Tillett said. “People will still want to meet with a dealer to negotiate the final purchase, but if we can make the initial stages of the buying process easier and more comfortable, we’re happy to provide that service to the customer.”
Peterson Industries Inc. is a family-owned business that has been manufacturing quality Excel RVs since 1966. With Excel dealers across the United States and Canada, Peterson Industries manufactures the Excel Limited Edition, Winslow and Wild Cargo lines of fifth-wheels and travel trailers. They can be reached by calling (800) 368-3759, or online at www.ExcelRVs.com.
Peterson Industries Inc., manufacturer of Excel Limited and Winslow fifth-wheels and travel trailers, announced today (Jan. 21) it has added MSRP pricing to its website, www.excelrvs.com, for all models.
Peterson President Bryan Tillett stated, “By allowing the consumer to choose a floorplan and the options that appeal to them, and then print off an MSRP sheet, we feel we are accomplishing several things.” These include:
- We are keeping them on our site longer, thus increasing their interest in our product.
- We are establishing credibility in the value of the Excel line by offering a “Factory Produced” MSRP. Many manufacturers have no MSRP, or let the dealer make one up.
- The customer already has an idea of the value of the coach they are looking for upon entering the dealership, thus avoiding “sticker shock.”
- They already have somewhat of an idea of what options they want to have on their unit when sitting down with the sales representative at the dealership.”
“In the short time we have had the MSRP pricing on our site, we have already seen a substantial increase in site traffic as well as a longer ‘On Site’ time average.” Tillett stated.
Peterson Industries Inc. will introduce a high-end Winslow travel trailer with 120 cubic feet of basement storage Sept. 13-19 at the 42nd Annual Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pa. ”When you walk in, you get the feel you’re in a fifth-wheel, not a travel trailer,” said Peterson Industries President Bryan Tillet. The 33-foot Winslow quad-slide floorplan is built on the same drop-Z frame on which Peterson assembles its high-end Excel fifth-wheel line. ”We copied our best-selling fifth-wheel floorplan and turned it into a travel trailer,” Tillett said. ”Basically, it has more storage than most fifth-wheels have.” The Winslow, Tillet said, is designed to attract older consumers who have problems negotiating the steps going into a fifth-wheel’s bedroom. ”Our average buyer is 69 years old and a full-time RVer,” Tillett Said. ”They tell us the No. 1 problem they have with a travel trailer is storage space or the lack of it.” A fully equipped Winslow with an outdoor utility center, fireplace, pullout pantry, wine rack, office nook prewired for a computer, thermopane windows, electric awning and a minus 10-degree Fahrenheit guarantee retails for $70,000. About a dozen Excel dealers inspected the Winslow during Peterson’s dealer meeting July 18-20 at the company’s Smith Center, Kan., headquarters.
Brian Tillett, president of Peterson Industries Inc., promises to unveil a new concept never before done in the RV industry during his company’s 35th Annual National Dealer Show July 18-20 in Smith Center, Kan.
Tillett said the company is keeping the concept under wraps until the show and declined to provide any details.
“It’s going to change the way things are being built in the industry,” he told RVBUSINESS.com today (June 24). “As soon as the other manufacturers see it, they will be doing it. It’s not rocket science but no one has thought of it. That’s why I at least want to get to Louisville with it.”
Tillett said the company, which manufactures Excel brand fifth-wheels, won’t distribute brochures promoting its new concept until after the dealer show. He predicted the industry will copy the idea.
The dealer show will be held at the plant location in Smith Center. Dealers will begin to arrive Sunday afternoon. Dealer show will kick off Sunday evening with grilling and camaraderie.
Monday morning, the day starts off with a light breakfast. Dealers will spend most of the day looking at the hundreds of changes Peterson Industries has made to the product lines since 2010, including the unveiling of the new concept.
Monday evening, the company will host a banquet featuring entertainment, as well as awards for the dealers.
Tuesday morning, a breakfast will be provided followed by a sales meeting which will conclude the dealers show.
Peterson Industries has been in business 44 years and has a nationwide dealer network and also sells in Canada.

Carefree will be representing the full line of Excel fifth-wheels, including Limited Edition and the all-new Winslow. Product is being received in time for Edmonton’s biggest retail RV show at Northlands Agricom Center, Feb. 11-15 in Edmonton.
Peterson Industries Inc. will unveil its new mid-priced “Winslow” fifth-wheel at the 47th Annual National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., next week. “The Winslow is designed to be a true full-time coach featuring a solid hickory interior, halogen lighting, under-mounted sink, porcelain lavatory and many of the features that are important to full-timers and serious Snow Birds,” said Bryan Tillett, president of Peterson Industries. The Winslow is constructed utilizing many of the same materials and techniques as the company’s flagship “Limited Edition” model. Like the Limited Edition, Winslow will carry the company’s exclusive “Minus 10 degree” guarantee against freezing of any of the water system. “With an average MSRP in the mid $60,000 range, we have designed the Winslow to be a more affordable coach for those who want Excel quality at a moderate price point,” Tillett said. The Winslow is available in five floorplans ranging from 28 feet to 34 feet.
Two RV companies’ products will be getting some quality air time on an upcoming episode of CBS Television’s popoular show, “The Mentalist.”
The Good Sam Club was contacted recently by CBS/Warner Bros. to provide a variety of vehicles for the show at a location shoot on Tuesday ( Sept. 15), according to Sue Bray, executive director of the club.
The club’s parent company, Affinity Group Inc. (AGI), provided two test trailers manufactured by Peterson Industries Inc., Smith Center, Kan., and Northwood Manufacturing Inc., La Grande, Ore.
AGI also supplied a boat, ATVs and motorcycles.
Warner Bros. is going to make a donation to Hole in the Wall Camps in exchange for the vehicles AGI provided, Bray noted.
“The Mentalist” revolves around a celebrated psychic-turned-detective (Simon Baker) who has a powerful gift for observation and investigates crimes for the California Bureau of Investigation.
