This is one of 35 highway billboards going up in central Minnesota to alert the public to the potential danger of the abuse of prescription drugs. The billboards are being financed through a memorial fund in memory of Justin Pearson who died from a prescription drug overdose several years ago. His father, Dan Pearson, president and CEO of Pleasureland RV Center in St. Cloud, Minn., organized the public service effort. The death of Justin Pearson, who was 25 at the time of his death on Christmas Day three years ago, prompted statewide concern which led to passage of what became known as “Justin’s Law,” which will stop abuse of illicit online pharmacy sites and make it more difficult to buy addictive prescription drugs without a prescription over the Internet in Minnesota. The National Board of Pharmacy is taking up the issue on a national basis.
