The U.S.’ largest tradeshow for the powersports industry, Dealer Expo, will remain in Indianapolis through at least 2016, the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association (ICVA) has announced.
Dealer Expo has been in Indianapolis since 1998 and previously was committed through 2011. More than 18,000 international distributors, dealerships and manufacturers attend to buy and sell motorcycle, ATV, personal watercraft and snowmobile products. This citywide show produces 16,000 hotel room nights and generates more than $20 million in direct visitor spending each year.
“Dealer Expo has been a faithful and cooperative partner to the ICVA and the entire Indianapolis hospitality industry,” said Don Welsh, ICVA president and CEO. “Dealer Expo is yet another example of a major convention customer that would have outgrown our city had it not been for the expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium and our new hotel product.”

The show takes place in February, and means Indianapolis’ convention calendar for February 2012 will be booked solid, hosting the Super Bowl followed by three mega-conventions: Dealer Expo, Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo and the National Truck Equipment Association’s convention.
The 2011 show is booked for Feb. 18-20.
“Because of our climate controlled skywalk system and connected facilities, cold weather months continue to produce major convention bookings for Indianapolis,” said Welsh. The mission of the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association is to advance Indianapolis tourism and economic growth. The ICVA seeks to increase the number of visitors and their financial impact, expand positive perception of Indianapolis, and positively influence the visitor experience.
According to a Global Insight report, in partnership with D.K. Shifflet & Associates, 22 million visitors annually provide $3.56 billion in total annual economic impact of tourism on the Indianapolis economy resulting in 66,600 full-time equivalent employment positions in the hospitality industry.
