ProPack Packaging Inc., maker of Kronen premium holding tank treatments for RV and marine applications, purchased the assets of EPA Midwest, including the popular B.E.S.T. line of RV cleaners and protectants.

According to  press release, B.E.S.T., which stands for Better Environmental Solutions Technology, has been owned by EPA Midwest since they acquired the brand from its founder several years ago. “ProPack was a logical fit for B.E.S.T. products for several reasons,” noted Brady Locke, EPA president. “Notably, they have a tremendous filling operation with available capacity, they have a history in the RV industry with their Kronen brand, and B.E.S.T. products are a perfect complement to their current offerings.”

“Having just completed an acquisition two months ago, the timing was not ideal,” said Michael Meuser, president of ProPack. “But it was important that we got this done before the end of the year so that B.E.S.T. customers can be assured that their winter orders will be shipped on time for the 2014 season. The response from the distributors during our due diligence was that B.E.S.T. was their No. 2 seller, was loved by dealers, and would likely be No. 1 if manufactured to demand. We’re going to make that happen.”

He added, “Nicole and Brady have been great stewards of the brand and we’re excited they chose us to carry the B.E.S.T. product line forward in the future.”

St. Louis-based ProPack Packaging Inc., contract manufacturer and maker of Kronen Premium Holding Tank Treatments for RV and marine applications, announced the acquisition of Hohn Manufacturing.

According to a press release, Hohn Manufacturing is a privately held liquid and powder blending and packaging company in Fenton, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis.

“Due to organic growth, we had been looking for a larger facility for ProPack when I struck up a conversation with good friend Larry Harrington, who ran Hohn for 46 years, about his future plans for the business,” said ProPack President Michael Meuser. “Their knowledge of dry goods compliments our experience in liquid packaging nicely, so it was a great fit.”

Meuser noted that Hohn Manufacturing has enjoyed a reputation for quality blending and packaging of water treatment and other industrial chemical products in the Midwest for over 60 years.
