Winegard Co.’s Carryout G2 Portable Satellite TV Antenna was named the RVAA Product of the Year at the organization’s 2014 Executive Conference, which was Aug. 11-14 at the Loews Hotel in New Orleans.
Winegard officials said they were “very excited” the G2, launched in March as a sleeker, smaller version of the Carryout (GM-1518), was named Product of the Year.
“We realize we were up against some very good competition and we have a lot of respect for all of the RV suppliers, so we understand this is quite an honor,” said Aaron Enberg, Winegard’s manager of mobile satellite products, adding that sales of the G2 are “exceeding expectations” of the Burlington, Iowa company.
Traverse City, Mich.-based Stromberg Carlson Products Inc.’s EZ Open hand rail safety product was runner-up for the Product of the Year, while Broomfield, Colo.-based Carefree of Colorado’s Cut to Fit Universal Replacement Fabric for Slide-Out Awnings finished third out of 27 entries.
Jim Stark, president of the RVAA board of directors, said he heard nothing but positive reviews from participants.
Stark said one of the highlights of the conference was a slight change in the schedule, which made it easier for people to go from one meeting to the next. The working conference features 20- to 60-minute meetings all day between distributors, service providers and suppliers.
“It’s a full schedule of meetings all day long,” Stark said. “People are going from room to room, and there’s no question people are pretty tuckered out by the time it’s over.”
