Lance Camper Manufacturing Corp. announced that Mark Hovanec of RV Buddies has joined their marketing team and will be working alongside Marketing Director Norm Jacobson.
“I’m proud of RV Buddies, its contribution to the industry, and hope it continues to prosper,” said Hovanec, who adopted the stage name of Mark Summers while with RV Buddies. “Joining Lance Camper is a tremendous opportunity and I’m privileged to be a part of the team.”
According to a news release, Hovanec has a 30-year background in marketing, sales, film and television. Over the last decade, he has played key roles in the development and marketing of high profile entertainment websites with emphasis on SEO and social networking.
“We’re glad to have Mark aboard,” said Jack Cole, president of Lancaster, Calif.-based Lance Camper. “His specific talents and experience add to the mix in what we feel will be very beneficial to our long-term strategies.”
Today’s video comes from RV Buddies offering a tour of the Galileo travel trailer produced by Howe, Ind.-based JMS.
A review and video of the Jayco Pinnacle 36REQS fifth wheel is now live on www.RVBuddies.net.
“Jayco has stepped up its game with the Pinnacle,” says Mark Summers, executive producer of RV Buddies. “This entry into the higher end of fifth-wheels brings a lot of quality and value at a very competitive price.”
The 36REQS features a large living area with a pop-up HDTV and fireplace, comfortable sofa and two large, residential recliners. The kitchen of the review model was fully-loaded with convection microwave and double-door refrigerator. There is ample counter-space to prepare a feast.
Topside is a side-bath with guest entry and a private door to the bedroom. This model was fitted with a residential king size bed and the cedar-lined wardrobe gave the space a very cozy feeling.
RV Buddies is taking to the road in a rig supplied by Lance Camper (www.LanceCamper.com) – their hot dually diesel rig with a top-of-the-line 1181 truck camper. The destination is Big Sur, Calif.
RV Buddies chose the Fernwood Resort due to their proximity to the ocean and forest. Within the campground, camp sites line by the edge of a stream suitable for tubing or just enjoying the sound of the water.
There are dozens of hiking trails set under some of the largest Redwood trees in the United States. USFS Pfeiffer Beach is just a few miles away and is a stunning example of the California coastline.
Just north of Fernwood is Pebble Beach, Monterey Bay with its renowned aquarium, Carmel by the sea and the famous “16 mile drive.” To the south are Hearst Castle, Pismo Beach and Solvang. In between in every direction are some of the best wineries in the world.
Fernwood is a resort area featuring a 12-unit motel, the Redwood Grill Restaurant, general store, tavern, espresso bar and a 60-unit campground located in a redwood forest. Fernwood can accommodate large RV’s in the campground and features tent cabins located on the banks of the Big Sur River.
The campground conveniently borders Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and offers a great winter camping experience. Fernwood campground is home to a rare Albino Redwood tree. Fernwood Tavern hosts music every weekend featuring local and touring bands.

Applied GMC has completed the installation of a full 6-wheel independent suspension system with rear air bags, disc brakes and reaction arms on RV Buddies GMC Project RV. The article and video are LIVE on www.RVBuddies.net.
Jim Kanomata, founder of Applied GMC, is noted for his technology, engineering and GMC modifications within the GMC community, according to a press release.
“In a world where you and I grade performance A, B, C, D, F or pass/fail, Jim sees the world as A+, A and A-,” says Mark Summers, executive producer of RV Buddies. “In Jim’s world it is either right or wrong. Jim likes black and white. Grey is not a shade with which he is comfortable with.”
RV Buddies Project RV had the new Quadra Bag Air Suspension system installed with disc brakes on all four wheels and upgraded discs on the front wheels. And with the new rear-end, the Chuck Aulgur Reaction Arm kit keeps the rear end on the straight and narrow.
“It’s great to finally start the rebuilding process. With an extensive plan in place with a vision that won’t complete for some time, seeing something happen, and to get immediate gratification in such a way is truly exciting,” says Summers. “We intend to do this right and that takes time. All things permitting, the coach should be completed and ready for the inaugural road trip by spring of 2012.”
RV Buddies took a look at the Terra 34DS from Fleetwood RV Inc. and rates it as one of the best RV buys of 2011. To see the full review and video go to www.RVBuddies.net now.
“There are a few companies creating interesting floor plans,” said Mark Summers, executive producer of RV Buddies. “What is surprising is to find one of the best in an entry-level Class A motorhome.”
The Fleetwood Terra 34DS starts at $99,000, and offers a lot of value for the money. Full body paint is optional and applied to Fleetwood RV’s impeccable standards. An almost invisible optional bed lowers over the cab area to provide queen-size accommodations. The galley and dinette are forward and laid out well. But amidships is where the big surprise presents itself. The HD-TV is at eye level and both sleeper sofa and comfy lounge chair have views. And for someone working at the dinette on their laptop – they won’t miss a single lap around the track or touch-down.
Moving aft through a hallway is a side bath with plenty of room and privacy. In the back is a residential queen with a large window in the back cap making the space seem even larger.
“The Terra 34DS is unexpected. From the front cap that is stunning to the interior that is truly livable,” adds Summers.
RV Buddies will be filming the 4th Annual Trail Along To Pismo Vintage Trailer Rally, set to run May 19-22 at the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort in Pismo Beach, Calif.
“It’s been several years since we filmed at Pismo Coast Village,” Mark Summers, executive producer of RV Buddies, said in a press release. “We’ve been looking forward to coming back, and this is just the excuse we were looking for.”
Lance Camper Manufacturing Corp. will be supplying a top-of-the-line camper for the filming adventure.
The event sold the 250 allocated sites in four days and there is a substantial waiting list. This year’s event expects over 40 1948-1968 iconic Airstream trailers, along with numerous circa 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s Boles Aero, Shasta, Cardinal, Kenskill, Silver Streak, and Vagabond trailers.
Last year there were five units from the 1930’s. In addition, many of the units are towed with vintage vehicles such as 1946 and 1950 Hudson pickups, 1952 Willys Wagon, and numerous Woody wagons.
Pismo Coast Village’s General Manager Jay Jamison noted, “You can’t help but appreciate the passion, enthusiasm, and pride these trailer owners have for their vintage trailers. They work hard to restore them and travel to rallys such as this. They love to talk about them and show them off. Many own more than one. We are excited to welcome them back again this year.”
Summers added, “It will be nice to see some completed restorations given how much time is going into our GMC Project RV.”
The rally participants have planned activities such as bowling tournaments, kite flying, movie night, a night at the Melodrama, group meals and socials. The highlight of the event will be the open house on May 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. where all the units will be decorated inside and out in vintage themes.
The public is invited to attend this fun event at no charge, however, parking will not be available within the resort. Parking is available in the Addie Street parking lot a short walking distance from the resort.
Marketing is not what it was a decade ago – let alone 25 years ago. That is what prompted Mark Summers to launch Advanced Media Marketing Group (AMMG). As the parent company of “RV Buddies,” AMMG provides media marketing consulting services on the highest level, according to a news release.
AMMG specializes in New Media marketing practices from e-commerce, to website implementation, SEO/SEM to branding campaigns, social networking strategies, management consulting, sales training and of course video integration and video production. AMMG will develop a set of best practices to position its clients as a leader in their niche.
Summers explains: “Video integration – for example – goes far beyond buying a camcorder and opening a YouTube account. You may well know how to operate the camera and upload videos, but are you helping or hurting your business? Video production and integration, like social media, or any other New Media needs to be well thought out and professionally developed, just like any other part of your marketing campaign. Otherwise you’ll run the risk of appearing ‘sophomoric.’ High school level projects just won’t do anymore – today’s audience expects a professional presentation.
“We have generated quantifiable results for our current clients, including Truline RV, Final Touch Coach Works, Hensley Mfg., Auto Careers, and of course, ‘RV Buddies’ and we are thrilled to be able to respond to the demands of our customers and offer our New Media services through AMMG.”

“RV Buddies” toured the Lance Camper Manufacturing Corp. factory in Lancaster, Calif., and reviewed the 2285 travel trailer. The review and video are on www.RVBuddies.net now.
“This facility is flawless, new and rivals the best in the industry,” says Mark Summers, executive producer of “RV Buddies.” “Not only is the place spotless, but there is a sense of family – a culture that is palpable and truly translates into an amazing product.”
“RV Buddies” went through every phase of the operation from the CAD facility, to the end of the assembly line where every product literally gets a “white glove” inspection before leaving the facility.
“We chose the flagship 2285 to review,” says Summers. “It is a very livable trailer with two entry doors and a ‘super-slideout’ that makes for a huge living space.”

The video review and detailed accompanying article explore the coach inside and out while looking for what distinguishes this RV as an excellent “value proposition.”
“We looked with a more critical eye at the Phaeton,” says Summers adding, “to see if it could stand up to its reputation – and it didn’t disappoint.”

“RV Buddies” show host Mark Summers is scheduled to appear on “Good Day LA” on the FOX TV affiliate station in Los Angeles today (Feb. 17).
“RV Buddies has a history with dog rescue,” Mark Summers, executive producer of the show, stated in a news release. “My dogs Alex and the since-passed Toby are featured whenever possible on the show.”
RVers are huge dog lovers — many adorning their coaches with bumper stickers about dog rescue or other social conscious messages against pet mills, dog-fighting or spaying and neutering.
Summers has personally rescued over 50 high-risk dogs in the past five years. “Bella,” whom he is fostering, will appear with him on FOX TV looking for a loving, forever home.
“It’s bittersweet,” says Summers. “The problem is so big you feel like you can’t do enough. And every puppy or dog your rescue touches you in an inexplicable way.”
“There are many animal charities that RVers can help. And ‘RV Buddies’ has RV themed charge cards available on their website at: http://rvbuddies.net/community/charity-dog-rescue. The first time you use the card, the charge card company donates $50 to dog rescue. It doesn’t cost the card user a single dime,” he explained.

“RV Buddies” today (Jan. 31) announced that nationally recognized author, speaker, writer and sales trainer John DiPietro has joined the Internet TV show as a contributing editor for the Feature Articles category.
DiPietro, an avid RVer, has contributed to several national RV publications and is known for his informative video interviews featuring everyone from campground owners to industry executives, according to a news release.
“This is an absolute thrill to be associated with ‘RV Buddies’ and join some of the top names in the RV world to provide information to our audience,” says DiPietro.
“Having John on board further expands our reach,” says Mark Summers, executive producer for “RV Buddies.” “His writing style adds a unique viewpoint and perspective which will create interesting articles and content for the website.”
DiPietro’s forte is finding the offbeat story of human interest that the average RVer will enjoy. He does not write about sizes of tires or cubic inches of an engine, but discusses what activities and attractions are best for a family with young children or those more suited to active retired RVers and full-timers.
DiPietro’s career has been in the media, public relations and entertainment fields. He has experience in print, radio and currently hosts three television series. His background includes working with such entertainment superstars as Kenny Rogers, Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, the Harlem Globetrotters, the superstars of the WWE and the clowns from the Greatest Show on Earth.
“RV Buddies” is adding Bob Zagami to its lineup of contributors to the popular RV adventure-lifestyle Internet television program and website.
“We are delighted to have Bob join the team,” Mark Summers, executive producer of “RV Buddies,” stated in a news release. “He will be responsible for the Feature Articles category that we will launch early next month. Bob has earned a reputation of honest reporting and he is not afraid to express a strong opinion or tackle a controversial subject. He’s a passionate RVer and his work has been seen in many RV publications and on various web sites since he started documenting the industry in 1996.”
“This is a great opportunity to reach a larger consumer audience and provide commentary on topics of interest to all RVers,” said Zagami.
Zagami started his active involvement in the RV industry as a cub reporter, working with no compensation, with RV News – an independent trade publication. He eventually became editor of that magazine and several others.
He is currently a contributing writer for the Family Motor Coach Association’s (FMCA) Family Motor Coaching Magazine, FMCA.com, writes an industry trade blog on Greg Gerber’s RV Daily Report site, RVDailyreport.com, and recently launched a consumer RV blog at RVInsights.blogspot.com that is hosted on Chuck Woodbury’s RVTravel.com group of websites.
Zagami noted, “I’ve been impressed with the enthusiasm, professionalism and quality of the programs being offered on the ‘RV Buddies’ website. They have certainly set the standard for this new medium. The site provides RV related companies a new audience that grew up on computers and works and plays on the Internet every day.”
