Pender, Neb.-based Blue Ox announced the newest innovation to its SwayPro weight-distributing hitch. According to a press release, the BXW4019 Signature Series Rotating Latch is a new bolt-on latch designed to accommodate frames from 3 inches to 6 inches tall.
The Signature Series Latch can be bolted directly to or around the trailer frame. The new design augments the existing trailer frame – some of which have difficulty absorbing the forces of a weight distributing hitch – and prevents trailer sway when used in concert with the SwayPro’s spring steel bars and innovative hitch head. Rotating the latch stops the chains from swinging, preventing sway before it happens, the company said.
“With the addition of this new Signature Series latch, Blue Ox continues to evolve the design of the SwayPro, the finest weight distributing hitch on the market,” noted Blue Ox Vice President Raymond Padgett.
Blue Ox offers the SwayPro weight distribution hitch in six tongue weights: 350, 550, 750, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 pounds.
PopUp Towing Products has introduced its new RV Goose Coupler (RVGC) for towing fifth-wheel trailers with a gooseneck hitch.
According to a press release, the RVGC allows use of the tow vehicle’s bed space while towing. Simply unbolt the existing king pin box from the fifth-wheel and bolt the RVGC in its place. A patented self-latching coupler makes for an “easy hitch and unhitch.”
Boasting a GVWR rating of 24,000 pounds, the RVGC will handle just about any fifth-wheel on the market today, the company said. For more information visit www.popuphitch.com; e-mail email@example.com; or call at (800) 837-8578.
Towing product supplier CURT Manufacturing has improved its trailer hitch by becoming the first company to employ Aquence (A-coat) technology. According to a press release, A-coat is a revolutionary finish and an award-winning green technology.
CURT said it has always used a high-quality powder coat finish that is applied after sending welded hitches through multiple stages, including a shot blast, wash and preparation system. This process results in a clean surface allowing CURT to apply an attractive, high-gloss black powder coat.
With the new technology, each hitch is also dipped in a liquid A-coat before it receives CURT’s powder coat finish. The two coatings then co-cure together in the finishing oven, providing the most rust and chip resistant hitch available, the company said. CURT hitches now contain an opening in the frame allowing the A-coat to cover the hitch from the inside out, further protecting the product from rust and corrosion.
A-coat won the 2010 Automotive News Pace Award for its environmental benefits as the technology reduces a company’s production footprint by up to 40% versus the more common E-coat process that many manufacturers use. This substantially reduces energy usage. Additionally, independent salt spray tests show that A-coat is more rust and chip resistant than E-coat, according to Eau Claire, Wis.-based CURT.
