CURT Mfg. Applies A-Coat Process To Hitches

Towing product supplier CURT Manufacturing has improved its trailer hitch by becoming the first company to employ Aquence (A-coat) technology. According to a press release, A-coat is a revolutionary finish and an award-winning green technology.

CURT said it has always used a high-quality powder coat finish that is applied after sending welded hitches through multiple stages, including a shot blast, wash and preparation system. This process results in a clean surface allowing CURT to apply an attractive, high-gloss black powder coat.

With the new technology, each hitch is also dipped in a liquid A-coat before it receives CURT’s powder coat finish. The two coatings then co-cure together in the finishing oven, providing the most rust and chip resistant hitch available, the company said. CURT hitches now contain an opening in the frame allowing the A-coat to cover the hitch from the inside out, further protecting the product from rust and corrosion.

A-coat won the 2010 Automotive News Pace Award for its environmental benefits as the technology reduces a company’s production footprint by up to 40% versus the more common E-coat process that many manufacturers use. This substantially reduces energy usage. Additionally, independent salt spray tests show that A-coat is more rust and chip resistant than E-coat, according to Eau Claire, Wis.-based CURT.

Husky Towing Products Launches New Website

Husky Towing Products has launched an all-new website, www.Huskytow.com, featuring new products and information about safe towing practices.

According to a press release, the site also sports a new look with “compelling lifestyle images of tow vehicles and trailers in action.”

The site includes a new series of short videos showing the benefits of several featured products from the Husky lineup. Each video begins with a description of a common towing challenge and explains how the Husky product can meet that challenge.

Huskytow.com includes an easy-to-use dealer locator where customers can enter a location and a Google-based map displays a pin for each dealer. The locator also displays a list of dealer names, addresses and phone numbers.

Husky dealers using the website will find all of the information previously available at huskytow.com.

Husky Towing Products, based in Wilsonville, Ore., designs, manufactures and distributes a complete line of hitches, electrical products and accessories for the towing industry.

PullRite Names Later National Sales Manager

Towing product and hitch supplier PullRite announced the promotion of Scott Later to national sales manager.

According to a press release, Later joined Mishawaka, Ind.-based PullRite as west coast sales representative two years ago, following 12 years as vice president of sales for Carter Distributing in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver, Colo.

He will continue to serve PullRite’s accounts on the west coast, as well as taking on additional responsibilities as national sales manager.

PullRite, a company with a 35-year history of providing quality hitches and towing products for the RV industry, also reported that it set new sales records in each of the last two years.
