RVIA_CentennialThe Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) will host an RV Centennial booth in the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) South Wing Lobby C during the 47th National RV Trade Show Dec. 1-3.

Show attendees are encouraged to stop by the booth for information about the upcoming year’s celebrations and activities, according to a news release.

RV historian and renowned RV collector David Woodworth has provided antique RV and camping memorabilia for display in the booth and will be available to speak with show attendees at the booth on Dec. 1 following “Outlook 2010: Let The Sun Shine.”

The RV Centennial is an industrywide, year-long celebration to recognize the 100th anniversary of the RV industry with an array of events and promotions highlighting the RV industry’s proud past and bright future. The year 1910 has been identified as the beginning of the RV industry when the first mass-produced, manufactured auto campers and camping trailers — the forerunners of today’s RVs — were built.

RVIA invites industry members to visit the official RV Centennial website,, a clearinghouse of information and a treasure trove of free resources to help the industry celebrate its 100th anniversary. Showcasing photographs of antique RVs submitted by RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum historian Al Hesselbart, the website offers a variety of RV Centennial marketing collateral that can be used in 100th Anniversary promotions. These include:

  • The official 100th Anniversary Logo.
  • RV images — high-resolution images of antique units.
  • Public relations outreach.

There will also be several ways to tie in to the celebration in 2010 through RVIA’s public relations support of the RV Centennial, including:

  • The RV Centennial RV Media Tour – Woodworth will lead a media tour that will feature antique and modern RVs.
  • Press pelease templates that can be used by industry members to alert local media about the industry’s 100th anniversary and what is being done locally to celebrate.
  • An RV centennial video will be made available to industry members to use in their marketing communications efforts.
  • Social Media Outreach – Go RVing’s Facebook fan page and Twitter will be used to focus attention on the Centennial. Industry members will be urged to become fans of the Go RVing Facebook page and post company-specific news and events for the 100th Anniversary. They will also be asked to provide fun, interesting facts about the industry that can be used on Twitter during the media tour or during Go RVing’s 100 days of RV Centennial Tweets to the media.
