May 7, 2013 by · Comments Off on Hiring Roddy as ‘Tech Tips’ Writer’s announced that Steve Roddy has joined the RV-specific website as a tech tips writer.

According to a press release, Roddy brings an extensive background in the industry that dates back to the 1980s, when he worked at a “mom and pop dealer” in Ohio. He worked in various industry capacities for the past three decades, and in 1998 was hired as service director for the Florida RV Trade Association’s (FRVTA) Distance Learning Network.

In that role, he runs a web-based certification prep course that is used by dealers all across the country. He also works as a master certified tech services manager at LazyDays RV and as a parts and service director at Camping World of Bartow, Fla.

During Roddy’s career in RV service, he spent a three-year period as a fulltime RVer, traveled and working in several different states.

“My initial goal was to stay in the RV business until I decided what he wanted to do with my life,” he said. “After more than 30 years in the business, I still haven’t decided.”

Winners Earn $1,000 at Annual Blackjack Event

Systems 2000, American Guardian Warranty Services, RV America and announced the winners of the free-to-play blackjack tournament hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville, Ky., during last week’s National RV Trade Show. The annual tournament took place Nov. 29 following trade show festivities.

According to a press release, the tournament consisted of two 45-minute rounds. Participants started with $10,000 in poker chips and at the end of each round, the person with the most chips won $1,000 in cash.

Helen Zag from Greeneway RV in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., won in the first round after earning $497,000 in chips, according to Systems 2000. Dave Maloney from Maloney’s RV in Paradise, Newfoundland, Canada, won the second round after earning a record-breaking $1.2 million in chips.

More than $1,000 in cash prizes were given out in raffle drawings throughout the night, according to sponsors.
