Garrison, N.D., is a hubbub of activity this spring. In fact, with so many new businesses locating there, it’s hard for the city to keep up.
At a recent city meeting, the council room was full up with contractors, business owners, developers and economic development officials, all needing some time and attention to discuss their various projects, according to the Bismark Tribune.
One new business, called Sakakawea RV, which will consist of a recreational vehicle dealership and an RV park, wants to get moving — and the sooner the better, with summer recreation season coming on fast.
However, it needs proper zoning and owner Jeff Gerhart asked the city to expedite the process. The city’s willing to work with him, but not at the expense of the required process.
Garrison Mayor Dave Reinarts told Gerhart, “What you are doing is great. We will work hard for you, but we want to do it right.”
On that front, the city decided to hold a special zoning meeting Tuesday to get the required public hearing process jump-started.
On other fronts, a new boat dealership also is coming to town. Jason Foss, general manager of North Country Marine and Motorsports, of Minot, said he’s looking forward to the location east of Garrison on the south side of Highway 37. That’s right next to a new service and repair shop that’s under construction.
“This is where our home is going to be,” Foss said. “We are going to put down roots.”
