image1There has been some confusion concerning last week’s announcement that the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) is temporarily increasing the price of the association seal from $4.05 to $35, effective July 1.

Mainly, questions have centered on the impact of this increase on RVIA’s new unit assessment of its manufacturer members used to fund the Go RVing program, according to Richard Coon, RVIA president.

“To clarify, RVIA’s new unit assessment for Go RVing is unchanged and will remain at current levels,” Coon said in an e-mail distributed on Tuesday (June 23) to RVIA members.  “RVIA’s board of directors moved to raise the seal fee to maintain an adequate revenue stream to fund RVIA programs in the face of declining space sales at the National RV Trade Show and the California RV Show.”

The table below details the previous and new fee structure for the RVIA seal.

Current Seal Cost                        Effective 7/1/09 thru 9/30/10

    Silver     Travel trailers & fifth-wheels  $4.05           $61               $65.05       $35               $61                $96

“I hope this helps address and allay any confusion that has resulted from our announcement last week,” Coon concluded.
