The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of Canada and RVDA of British Columbia will participate in the 2013 Skills Canada competition in Vancouver from June 5-8 at BC Place.
Started in 1994, the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) is the only national, Olympic-style, multi-trade and technology competition for young students and apprentices in the country, according to a press release.
Every year, the event brings together over 550 young people from all regions of Canada, along with their parents and advisers, to compete in over 40 trade and technology areas. The main goals of this event are to provide competitors with hands-on work experience and to raise awareness for the general population of the value of and challenge in skilled trades and technology careers.
RVDA of Canada noted that while consumers are rapidly adopting the RV lifestyle, the RV service technician trade is still little known to the general public.
RVDA of Canada will have a Try-A-Trade & Technology booth, which will feature multiple trade stations and a career booth right on the competition floor for students, parents, teachers and anyone interested in experiencing and learning more about the trade and career opportunities.
